Savinelli Churchwarden 601 - Extra Long Handmade Bent Billiard Italian Wood Briar Pipe, Vintage Design, Polished Finish, 3mm

After a 10 year hiatus, I've returned to enjoying a relaxing pipe after the cares of the day have been put to rest. This Savinelli is a good pipe for contemplative smoking. The stem length 'softens' the smoke, particularly later in a bowlful when other pipes can 'bite'. Load it with Dunhill Nightcap, sit back and enjoy. Savinelli's construction is first-class. The burl grain is nearly vertical, the finish is flawless, and stem joint appears to be a perfect match. It's a precise, snug fit that warrants extra care when separating the stem and bowl for cleaning. In short, this was fairly priced, high quality pipe - a definite keeper. I look forward to smoking it for a many years. If you consider trying a churchwarden, get some extra-extra long pipe cleaners (> 14") otherwise you'll have trouble getting the stem thoroughly cleaned.

Beautiful, exceedingly fine workmanship. Smokes as in a dream, smooth easy pulls to start, small sips to keep going. Nice and cool, no tongue bite at all. Very well balanced, feels like it belongs in your hand. The bowl is decent size, and the nice long stem keeps the smoke out of your face. Functional art, for sure.

Beautiful Italian pipe in Smooth Briar but not dandy looking. No filter. Acrylic stem. Does not burn too hot. I like Churchwardens because they are not in your face while reading, writing, typing or watching TV and they are the best pipes to smoke prone or in bed (at your own risk). The other advantage is that being longer they are not "nose warmers" and sufficiently away from your face. Have got another 601 in Rusticated. All in all a very good pipe at a very good price. I recommend the style and the manufacturer.

An excellent, well-made pipe. The draw is easy and I had no problems keeping it lit. And let's not forget that it looks great too.

Came in a completely smashed box but it wasn’t damaged. The pipe is decent quality although a little overpriced for being completely acrylic. Works well.

Well now when the old lady tells ti stick in my pipe and smoke it I can;t say Honey I don't have a pipe. I will pull this thing out and light up a nice knob of Captain Black

I bought this for my husband, and this is his review: This pipe feels great in the hand, looks good, and smokes cool although it does gurgle regularly. I really want to like it, however: There are tooling marks on the bowl. Cosmetic yes, but for this price it ought to be perfect. The draft hole through the shank and into the chamber is off center. This does not affect the smokability, but it does not allow a pipe cleaner to be run through the stem into the shank. The pipe clear gets hung up on an internal edge due to the hole in the shank being off center from the stem. I have to take the pipe apart just to run a pipe cleaner through it. The finish on the bowl is wearing off faster that I had expected. The pipe did come with the usual certificate of quality inspection, but I don't feel that this specimen is up to the high standard that one expects from Savinelli. I can still smoke it, but the quality has left a "bad taste in my mouth" so to speak. I have seen other Savinellis that looked just fine, but I would be very leery of ordering one online again. I would want to personally inspect it first.

La pipa di per sé è bella e di qualità. Peccato che sia arrivata imballata malissimo, in ben due scatole entrambe aperte e ammaccate. Trattandosi di un oggetto molto personale, trovarla aperta non è stato molto rassicurante, ma abbiamo verificato che non fosse stata usata precedentemente. Però assolutamente 0 sulla logistica...peccato perché è un oggetto di qualità; anche per il costo che ha, arrivare in quelle condizioni è inaccettabile.

Arrivata nei tempi previsti e confezionata benissimo!
