You get what you pay for.
This is a great utility knife. It came super sharp and has stayed that way for months so far. I've used it nearly every other day. It is always hand-washed and hung on a magnetic shelf.

Sharpest knife ever, so cool!
I am a amateur knife sharpener so the first thing I did with this knife is do the paper test with it, and some others. This is by far, without exaggeration, the sharpest knife I have ever owned, right out of the box. Literally, it cuts paper like a hot knife through warm butter. Also, the construction and appearance is just so WAY cool, it makes me want to hang it on the wall just to look at rather than use. This knife is a great choice for making sandwiches, slicing up salad vegetables, trimming and cutting up chicken, etc. It' an all around extremely sharp and comfortable knife to use in the kitchen.I included a picture to show the relative size of the knife. Basically, the blade is just shy of 5". The knife is light and easy to handle. It's extremely good looking. Definitely recommended.

beautiful little utility cooking knife
I enjoy cooking and travel a lot for work so wanted to put together a nice set of knives for when I am on the road. I like the harder steel that Japanese style knives typically use, and had heard really good things about Tojiro knives. That, along with the simpler care for a synthetic handle is what lead me to this as my choice for a utility knife.I could not be more impressed. I have never gotten a knife that was this incredibly sharp right out of the box, no honing needed. Feels good in the hand as well.TL:DR - If you are looking for a high quality Utility/petty knife you will not be disappointed!

Incredibly Sharp!
I love this knife, but watch out! It is incredibly -- one might say dangerously -- sharp. I was used to ordinary knives, which could touch and just slide over skin, so the first few times I used this knife, I cut myself each time. After that I learned to use it with great care -- until today when I managed to cut myself twice again. When the shallot I was slicing slipped, the knife grazed my thumb and took a clean little slice of skin off the tip. Then the point at the tip of the knife, which is also very sharp, lightly poked my index finger and made a small hole through the skin. So, again, I highly recommend this knife, but one must learn to use it with greater care than one is probably used to.

Fantastic little knife for small tasks
I have owned the 6 inch petty by tojiro for a couple years and have always loved it for cutting avocados into fans. I’ve worked in many many restaurants especially during Covid and that petty held up at every one(every restaurant ever needs you to cut avo fans or at least slices). I saw this 4.5 inch damascus version and immediately wanted it. Bought it when I could afford it and I’m very glad I did so as it’s much better suited for small work than a six inch petty. The handle is tiny in diameter which I love and it’s super light. I love every tojiro I own but this one stands out.

I love it. It has lived in my purse with ...
I bought this knife a year ago. I love it. It has lived in my purse with a cheap guard on it for the past year. It has cut most meals... salad, steak & more. It has ONE chip on it, VG10 is a bit hard and can chip from abuse... I blame the bone-in pork chops. I've only honed it with my ceramic "steel" and it has held its edge well... living in a purse. If I could afford it, I'd buy one for all of my relatives. I also own another Tojiro VG10 core kinfe, an 8" chef's knife. For those into aesthetics, the layering is very subtle, but it doesn't detract from quality. Due to the nature of this knife with me it is mostly cleaned with IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol, 90%) the merge line from the VG10 and cladding (layered, Damascus style) stainless is oxidizing a little, to me this accentuates the functionality and usefulness of the VG10 core.

Great customer service
This was purchased as a Christmas present for my brother. It's gorgeous and high quality and will serve him very well in the kitchen. However, the first one was pirated off my doorstep, which was very upsetting. The customer service people were extremely nice throughout the whole investigation process and kindly sent a replacement. The knife itself is shaving sharp upon opening the package, and it is a very nice Damascus pattern. It is not acid etched, so the pattern is more subtle. This is not a bug, it is beautiful when it catches the light, and i think he'll really like it. Would buy from this company again for sure
