Nice light, surprised USB charger was not included
This is a great light. However, beware that the USB charger is NOT included.Reference my email to NiteRider:I recently purchased the NiteRider 700 Headlight and Taillight combo. I was surprised and disappointed that a wall charger was not included with the lights in which to plug the USB cables. For the price, a wall pluggable charger should have been included. In fact, a two-USB port charger would have been ideal.I wasn't expecting to plug this light system into my computer always to recharge. I would have preferred to simply plug the USB charger into an outlet in my garage where after each ride, I would plug in the lights. I realize that I can also use the charger from my Smartphone, but I typically use it every night for my phone. Please consider adding a wall pluggable USB charger.

Just okay, plus missing parts
Box that the lights came in wasn't sealed, so it felt like an open box item. And sure enough, the mounting for the Solas light was missing. Emailed Niterider and no response. Sent email to seller and waiting for reply. This is unacceptable. Not impressed with the presentation or product. This will be the last Niterider product I purchase. A lot of competitive products out there now that have better quality and price.

Great light but maybe a little overkill
I'm a daily bike commuter in NYC with 9 miles between my front door and my job. I also do trail riding on my mountain bike. Combined, I do more than 150 miles a week on my bike between commuting and recreation.I love this light after upgrading from a cheaper Torch LED lighting set that I paid around 40$ for. Riding in NYC means dealing with lots of yellow cabs, reckless drivers, and clueless pedestrians. Near misses with a front bumper are a common occurrence because most drivers either don't see bikers or do not care. Since upgrading, I haven't had a single issue since these lights are extremely bright and it takes willful negligence not to notice these lights. Even the tail light causes a soothing red glow on the pavement behind me.The mounting system is very well designed and it seems ideal for those switching it between multiple bikes. Taking the lights off their mounts to charge is also a breeze and I've never been scared that I might lose a light. The lights stay bright between chargings and are quick to charge as well. My evening commute is maybe 35 minutes and I charge my lights every three days. These lights are also excellent at trail riding as they make night rides a breeze. Even in a well lit city, I can see my lights flashing on blink mode a half mile away.My only qualm is that they might be too bright and I often shield the front of my light with my hands when I'm at a red light so as not to blind drivers when they make turns. This might be a bit of overkill for city riding and I will probably invest in the Lumina 350 at a later date. These lights are more expensive than your average fare but definitely worth the extra investment. Not mentioned in the product description, but the Lumina 700 also comes with a helmet mount inside the box. I haven't bothered to attach it to my helmet but I might once I get a second light.

keep looking
i have been in the bike biz most of my life. Niterider has for me been a great product. this tail light for me is sad. the screws are rusting after one ride and it was not even in the rain but rather water that came up from the rear wheel after a rain. stainless should have been used. this is nightrider not walmart. not the best work. also the usb port, the port plug could use a rework also.amazon took great care of me. sending me a return label no problems. i love this company

Best light I've had
The NightRider Lumina 700 is expensive, but it is the best light I have ever used. I ride on very dark streets and also in twilight and dawn and the light is bright enough that I never really need to have it on the brightest setting - three brightness settings and I typically ride on low. The strobe is also great for daytime use. The Solas taillight is just as good with multiple functions expected in a taillight. I liked the combo enough to buy a second set for other bikes. I also purchased extra mounts so I can put two lights on (one lit, one spare) for long rides when I didn't charge the main light and don't know how much battery is left.

very bright and effective
The only gripe (which cost it a star), is it's hard for me to change modes. You kind of need a decoder ring to figure it out. With some fumbling I can. When I'm riding and I forget to turn on the light, I have to wave my hand in front of it to see what it's doing (dim, middle, bright or blinking).

Great Lights
Have used the NR 550 previously (NR headlights are awesome) so I will keep the review focused on the TailLight. Absolutely impressed with the visibility this taillight provides to motorists. Super easy to see from a distance. I really appreciate (as do my fellow riders) the group ride setting which decreases the amount of light output by at least half. My only complaint is the combo pack did not come with instructions for the taillight. It took a while to determine how to turn it off.
