Taylor Of Old Bond Street Shaving Cream Sandalwood, 2.5-Ounce

I've been using Taylor of Old Bond Street products for over 20 years. I'm not a wet shaving fanatic and only lather this soap up with my hands instead of a shaving brush and it still lathers up great, and leaves my face feeling soft. It has a very mild, natural scent of sandalwood. A little pricey but worth it if you value a pleasant shave.

I usually use either shaving soap or shaving cream in a tub. This was my first purchase of shaving cream in a tube to use with a bowl and brush to work up a lather. I have to say I'm delighted with the results. Very simply, it's easier to work up a thick and luxurious lather using this than any of the other products I've tried to date. The scent is pleasant and not overwhelming by any means. If you like sandalwood you'll enjoy using this product while shaving and the scent that lingers is very subtle, much less than an aftershave product for instance. The lather quality is extremely good as well. It raises the beard nicely, while lubricating the skin, making shaving very smooth and easy. Another valuable plus for me is that it's easy to transport on a trip. The tube takes up much less room than a tub of either shaving cream or soap. There's plenty of product if you use it sparingly, which makes perfect sense. With a small amount, somewhere between a pea and an almond sized squeeze I got all the lather I needed. Normally I lather twice, once with the grain and once against, but if I really want a particularly close shave I'll lather three times, once with the grain, once across and once against. Even when I lathered three times there was plenty of lather from just a small squeeze from the tube. I haven't tried Taylor's other scents in a tube, but now I will for sure.

Taylor of Old Bond Street's Sandalwood shaving cream lathers and performs pretty well. However, the cream is a little hard to squeeze out of the tube. As you squeeze it, it almost feels as though it has dried up inside. Once it comes out, you'll notice that the cream is just fine after you start to mix it. I'm not quite sure why this is. On a brighter note, I do find it to be less runny than Eton, St. James, and Mr. Taylors in a tube. I prefer the tubes overall as I find them to be a little more convenient for travel, usage and storage. Sandalwood seems to be a popular scent among the wet shaving community so I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Well, I learned that I'm not a huge fan of sandalwood but I still enjoy using this cream. The performance is very good and the scent is not unpleasant by any means; it just seems a bit cloying. If you haven't smelled it before, it's heavy on the sweet, old-fashioned soapy smell. It might be the perfect scent for someone who enjoys sweet, woody, oud-type fragrances. If that sounds like you, then give this a shot. One thing that I love about Taylors is that they don't use parabens in their products. It makes me feel better about what I'm slathering on my face over the years which is one less thing to worry about. So the tube and the ingredients are convenient for me. The scent is pleasing enough, although I'll stay away from Sandalwood aftershaves and colognes. And although it's not the thickest cream I've used, it does lather and protect without any issues. For now, I'll give this the four stars that I feel it deserves. It really is a decent shaving cream. With all the shaving products out there, you could do a lot worse.

Like this shaving cream. Get a good close shave with it. Not a lot of foam like some but covers well. Has a good masculine smell.

Best shaving cream I’ve ever used. And really convenient for traveling.

I typically use a tube shaving cream, and needed something in a small enough package to carry on an airplane for an upcoming business trip (the airline only allows a 3.5 oz. tube). I ordered the TOBS Sandalwood, because I know the name and I like the sandalwood scent. The scent is rich, full and classic. The cream lathers well in the hand (haven't tried it in a bowl yet), and it goes on "slick," providing a nice protectant for the skin, allowing the blade to glide effortlessly over the skin. This is the easiest shave, by far, I've yet had -- and I usually use Proraso cream. No nicks, no razor burn, and I was able to complete a three pass shave in record time. Plus, I was using a blade with some mileage on it. I use an EJ razor and Derby blades, and this seems like a great combination for me with the TOBS cream. The item arrived in the time projected, and was packaged well. No complaints here. Will purchase this item again!

I like the feel of it, and the smell

I love the Sandalwood produced by Taylor of Old Bond Street. This shaving cream lathers up quite nicely and applies very smoothly. I also purchased the after shave and I left feeling rejuvenated. Smells amazing.
