Just what my windows needed!
To be honest, I was very skeptical about putting this film on my windows. I previously had 1” shutters on the lower half of this 3 window set. They had yellowed in places over the years, had broken pieces, were hard to keep clean, and constantly allowed bugs and cobwebs to collect behind them. The shutter brackets also prevented me from being able to use the tilt sash feature on the windows which was aggravating. I knew I needed to get something else on these windows!!This product was extremely durable and easy to work with. After the first window, the process was a breeze. I recommend doing your most inconspicuous window first to work out any issues. My biggest issue was that I didn’t have a super sharp utility blade to cut the excess. I fixed that before I proceeded to the next window, and things went much smoother.I love that this application gives me the privacy that is needed, yet allows enough light for my plants. I think it looks cleaner, more contemporary, and opens up the area without having those busy, clumsy shutters there. And let’s be honest…..this is a heck of a lot cheaper than other window coverings. I also like that this is not permanent. Once dried it is very secure though. Time will tell how it withstands cleaning etc. All in all, this is a WIN WIN for me!Just for FYI: I used the ‘frosted’ film. It was the right choice for me. I think the white would have been too opaque and I didn’t want the busy-ness of the design ones

WORKED PERFECTLY
The media could not be loaded. I live in a townhouse and people walk by my windows all the time and look in. I hate it but love the daylight. I installed these covers by myself and it was very easy. Measuring and cutting is the hardest part. As you can see these do not block any sunlight yet no one can see inside anymore. I was really worried they would be too sheer based on a couple reviews but it’s not true. If you put your face up to the glass you can see a blurry person of course but my privacy is well protected. I feel very safe changing in front of them. You lay them out flat on a hard surface, measure your window glass and I suggest making them about 1/4” bigger than the glass then after it dries just use the exacto blade to trim it off otherwise you get side edges of clear glass. My first attempt was like this so I had to redo it. You spray the glass with water then put the film on the wet glass after you peel off the clear plastic backing. It’s not sticky like tape at all so it doesn’t get stuck or attached to itself at all. the water will make it get sticky after you put it on the window. You can move it around while it’s wet so it’s very forgiving and easy to do by yourself. Take extra care to cut straight lines and your good! Oh and get a hard edge or squeegee thing to smooth out the bubbles. It dries overnight and becomes unmovable when dry. It claims you can peel it off later but I haven’t tried that yet so I can’t verify if this is true. I’m renting right now so I’m praying it’s removable in real life. I really recommend this. I went to Home Depot but the one they had at mine was way too sheer so I took a chance on this one. So glad I did!

Definitely Opaque – Maybe a Little TOO Much?
We had some privacy shrubs removed only to discover that—partly because our house is at a slightly higher elevation than our neighbor's—we could easily look straight into our their yard and house. I had previously purchased a different manufacturer's film for privacy on an exterior bedroom door and was happy with the result but not the installation process, so I chose this film instead.I purchased one roll of FROSTED 17.1"x13.1' film.I found the installation very simple:1. Using a simple template that I created, the vinyl cuts very easily. As suggested in the directions, cut slightly larger than the size of the window pane.2. From previous experience I knew peeling the backing from the film would be difficult and that taking one corner and rubbing it back and forth to break the film away was necessary. But good grief. I struggled for a good 10 minutes and could NOT get the backing to peel away using my fingernails. Fixed that problem by using a box cutter; the blade was thin enough to do the job. This was the only frustrating part of the task but didn't take too long once I figured out the correct tool to use.3. Applying the film to the glass and positioning it was not a problem at all. I used a small spray bottle and scraper from a separately purchased installation kit (which included the box cutter) and the job went really smoothly.4. If you don't have a SHARP (bold, italic, underlined!!) box cutter or exacto knife you MUST have one. Otherwise when you cut away the excess film it will snag and rip.5. Have a rag or paper towels handy to blot up the excess water that comes out as your scrape the film to get all the bubbles out.The film I purchased allows nicely diffused light but I am a little bummed at the level of opacity. I didn't necessarily intend to see NOTHING...just wanted a bit of opacity for privacy. My previous film purchased allowed a certain amount of visibility. This is pretty much completely opaque so if you want light but not see anything beyond, this is for you.The one roll I purchased covered 6 of the 10 12"x12" squares x 2 doors (so twelve 12"x12" squares) which is what I wanted—to keep the top and bottom squares free. Otherwise I would have had to purchase another roll. If you're covering a door's worth of window one roll would suffice, but anything more, buy two rolls or one with more length. There were narrow leftover strips that I ended up tossing, but crafty people might be able to find fun repurposing opportunities for them!

Easy to use
OK, this van has a long way to go, but we are using it and we don’t not want anybody peeping in while we’re sleeping in it. This film was so easy to apply and I love that it is not permanent so that if I did make a mistake. I could take it off. Which I did not! The outside is extremely reflective and you can’t see through it but from the inside, you could see out the windows very clear. This was a great purchase. I highly recommended because it’s so easy to use. Tip, I traced out and cut the shape of the windows on Butcher paper, made sure it was a correct fit, and then used that as a template.. After squeegeeing out the water, it looked a little streaky, but then after a couple days it was a complete success.
