Awesome fan
Before installing this fan (with available thermostat) our unattached garage would get blazing hot in the summer. Now with the fan installed the garage is so much cooler and more comfortable to be in. I'm tempted to buy a couple for the house. The cost is the only thing that keeps me from buying two right now. Our fan is whisper quiet; no grinding metal sound like another commenter experienced. The icing on the cake is it costs me nothing to have this fan running during the summer.

Nice Unit
I picked this unit due to the higher wattage motor that would move more air. The installation of this unit was easy, the instructions were comprehensive and it is working well. It has reduced the heat load in the attic substantially, makes the upstairs more comfortable and assists the air conditioner. The unit makes virtually no noise. If you are uncomfortable cutting a hole in your roof, I recommend having it professionally installed but installation should not cost much since it needs no AC power. I like the fan and would make the purchase again or recommend it to a friend.

real JUNK
This fan is very noisy... the motor makes a lot of noise as it runs at different speeds. The company has sent me replacement motors, the first was the same as the original, the next.,, as I rotated the shaft the motor made a grinding sound... the problem. The motor is mounted direct to the housing... metel to metel... so the sound increases.I have NO HOPE the prblem will ever get better, I have $500 hole in my garage roof. The worst thing I have ever bought.I wish they would come out and fix this... no chance of that. The solar panel is for sale at my local tool store for $179. Make your own if you can.Amazon should not sell this product.

Easy install and works great!
I was not able to buy this on Amazon since nobody would ship it to Hawaii, but I did find a local distributer. I have a hexagonal home with a vaulted ceiling and put this on the very center of the peak. I now have a nice little breeze coming through my windows and out my ceiling. It does make noise, but certainly not loud enough to have to turn up the TV or have any difficulty having a conversation. The speed of the fan does go up and down with the passing clouds and sun intensity, so that might bother some people, but I figure it's doing what it is intended to do! I had it installed by a contractor which basically involved some caulk and a few screws since I already had the vent hole in the roof. Very glad I got the 30 watt rather than the 10 watt Home Depot/ Lowe's models. It definitely makes a difference in the temp of my living room and kitchen in the middle of the day. It doesn't come with a cover for the inside part since it's intended for attics, but in my case it didn't need one. You can likely buy a vent cover from Home Depot if you need it. I'm writing this review because I was unsure if you could use it in a "non attic" situation directly through the roof to the interior (I have a tongue and groove roof/ceiling with no attic). It does work just fine.
