AOR Heaven: Ten Continues its Winning Streak
Contrary to several reviews on here, I found this album by Ten to be an AOR masterpiece; nearly as good or just as good as last year's outstanding "Albion." Obviously, the band has a wealth of material, as Albion was by no means a short album. And "Isla De Muerta" is packed full of goodies too. For the most part a concept album, it features crisp production, and a few instrumentals added in, like most Ten albums do. The melodies are top notch, with highlights being "Tell Me What to Do," "Intensify," and "Revolution." Based on the song titles, this album won't win any awards for lyrical content, but the themes are better than many AOR albums, which mostly explore broken relationships, love, and the meaning of life. Personally, my favorite piece is Karnak/The Valley of the Kings. It blends the album together nicely, leading right into the track "Revolution." I'd give this one 4.5 out of 5, with Albion scoring a perfect 5, but this is another amazingly solid and consistent album from one of the genre's best bands.

Beautiful lyrics and songs!!
An excellent album from an excellent band!! Following the excellent quality of the songs of their previous album Albion, Isla de Muerta contains all the classic Ten: fast songs and ballads with superb guitar solos and lyrics. Highlights to songs like Bucaneers/Dead men tell no tales, Karnak/The valley of the king, The Dragon and Saint George, Tell me what to do, and Intensify. The japanese bonus track Assault and Battery is also an excellent track!! The balad This Love is also amazing!! Strongly reccomended for hard rock/AOR fans!!

rock music with great harmonies, perfect pitched guitar riffs & great composing ...
Am a big fan of Gary Hughs' vocals. This long forgotten about band appears to have produced another outstanding sound of Melodic rock. It's unfortunate that US radio doesn't capitalize on or it under appreciates this form of genre. The US is too focused on pop, hip hop & rap to hear the real beauty of what our counterparts have & continue to produce....rock music with great harmonies, perfect pitched guitar riffs & great composing both lyrically & instrumentally.

Second worst album, after "Twilight Chronicles."
Huge let down after the really, really good "Albion." This sounds like a mix of uninspired Ten songs and solo Gary Hughes b-sides. There are a few very good tunes on here, though. Not sure what happened here, but I think they rushed to get this out. Slow down, buys. Quality over quantity. I say this owning everything you have done. A real fan doesn't do hand-fed.

As good as ever
I may be the only one but I like this album as much or more than their previous effort "Albion". Very nice, highly polished melodic hard rock.

Business as usual - It`s good, but should this release have waited a while ?
Incredibly this is the twelth studio album from Ten who have now built up a seriously strong catalogue of melodic hard rock releases and no surprise it`s business as usual. Loosely based around a concept of pirate legend , under the covers its really just another solid dozen or so tracks from Gary Hughes and the boys. What is really like about this album is also to a extent my summary of slight reservations i have, whilst it`s always great to have another Ten album, it`s just over 6 months since their last release, I feel as though i am not yet quite ready for another dose, I am still enjoying and to an extent still getting into the last album "Albion" and amongst a fairly strong early 2015 for melodic hard rock releases ( Thunder, UFO, Europe etc ) I certainly have not been starved of quality New music recently. Having listened to this album a half dozen or so times I also find myself wondering if in the speed of release we are just missing here that one classic track that in years to come will have you reaching for the shelf to play the album. Don`t get me wrong, fans can buy with confidence, but to me Ten albums are like a best friend that usually pop round once a year or so and leave me happy , i just have a slight feeling the impact of their second visit in only 6 months may get slightly lost amongst the substantial music they left us to digest last time around.

Ten never dissapoints me.
More Melodic Hard Rock by the english band leader by Gary Hughes. This record is a little bit more melodic than others but I like this style. I know many people thought it's very repetitive but Gary has the formula. That's the secret.

... George EP and thought it was one of the best things I have heard in ages
Bought The Dragon And Saint George EP and thought it was one of the best things I have heard in ages, so I listened to a few tracks from this album and Albion on Youtube and decided to buy both, I also listened to some older tracks but they didn't seem to live up to the new stuff. In my opinion this line up of musicians have got something special and if they keep making music this good I will be buying.

A pretty solid album with several great songs
In my humble opinion, a step down from Albion but still a VERY good album in its' own right with the signature Ten sound & feel and several great songs with "The Dragon and Saint George" stealing the spotlight immediately.
