DROLET Escape 1500-I Wood Insert with FACEPLATE

Had difficulty with fan mechanisim, has to be seated just right to go on/off. Overall happy with the product though.

FYI... I am not a general contractor. I'm just a guy that doesn't want to get the shaft. Everyone was telling me that it would cost between $6-10 grand to get a non-working fireplace back into working order. No way!! So I decided to do it myself. When this arrived, I was alone and had to move this heavy unit by myself. Fortunately I had some 1" dowel rods to roll it into the house. The company that I had contracted to work with me changed their mind and said that they would be blacklisted if they helped me. So I did it with the help of a relative. He brought the lift so we could put the liner in. He helped me to lift the unit onto the marble hearth. Other than needing help for the liner and lifting it, this was very easy to install. We have a 100 year old house and it is about 1000 sq feet on the first floor. This helped drastically with our electric bill for the short amount of time we used it before spring/summer hit with the help of a smart thermostat and individual room sensors.

So far this product seems to be well built. However, I have not used it yet because it is summer 😉 I will update the review after this upcoming winter season.

Like the unit, looks, field and perform well.Used last sprint so far I’m happy warms half of my house well consider I don’t have insulation under crawl space.

Overall satisfied so far. We installed this stove with relative ease. The parts the come with the install kit are all straight forward and the instructional handbook (literally a large handbook) was very clear and well laid out. I look forward to the winters now with this wood insert installed in our old firebox.

Absolutely love this insert, it arrived just as described and looks beautiful! Only got a chance to use it once so far and heated our house very well

Love this Stove. Installed 10 years ago loved it but sold house. Bought another droplet in 2019. They upgraded blower very happy. Stove surround to small for my fireplace so check you measurements. Bought fireplace screen this time Awesome.

Hopefully fill produce enough heat in the winter

We live in Canada and our semi-detached home is about 2,000 square feet and even while it is minus 15 Celsius outside, this unit has no trouble keeping the house warm at 21 to 22 Celsius (70 to 72 Far.). I use its built-in fan and makes a big difference in heating capacity. As for burn rate, it goes fast. A full 6 inch diameter log that is about 15 inches long will burn under 3 hours. So once the coals are nice and hot, keep feeding nicely split seasoned wood, and this little unit can heat an entire small house. It is also a good backup in case power goes out.
