Q: Are the faucet and its lever both polished chrome as indicated in the main photo or is it the one in the last photo with the black tip at the spout?

The one we carry has the black on the tip of the spout and on the handle to turn the faucet on and off.

Q: Will this filter remove nitrates?

The DWS1000 will not remove Nitrates. But he Aquapure APRO5500 will remove nitrates from the water.I hope this helps. Thank you.

our tds is 126. I think it started at 140.
