Gurren Lagann Core Drill Necklace, Black, Gold, 3X8

I'm a fan of the anime series Gurren Lagann and had been wanting a core drill for some time. Finally, I got around to buying this one and I'm SO glad I did. Now, On to the details! First I'll tell you about the package. It comes on a card in a plastic bubble. The card has some great artwork and is really sturdy. It can be removed with ease and then replace to display. Inside the bubble you will find a metal case with a clear window which nicely shows the core drill. The metal case is also perfect for display. Once you open the metal case, there it is, a solid metal core drill. It has a chrome and gold finish, which is flawless on mine. This thing is NICE! It looks just like it did in the anime, other than the bit of writting on one side. THe writting appears to be a small copyright circle followed by G.KN/A.K.T.D (I have no idea what that stands for). It does annoy me a little, but it's not bad and if it turns out to have some meaning other than something to do with the manufacturer, I'm cool with it. THat's the only thing that detracts from it. As for the necklace, it's similar to what you find attacked to the crap in the quarter machines in stores. It's black and made to simulate leather, but I'm sure it's not leather, more like plastic. it has a cheap clasp which is really flimsy. I doubt it could hold the weight of the drill for long. Of course it's WAY too short anyway. I don't see how anyone over 12 years old could fit it around their neck and if you've watched the anime, you know this stuff isn't for small children. I had intended on changing the necklace anyway, so it doesn't matter and I was happy to pay the price I paid, just for the core drill. If you want to save a few dollars, you can look for the core drill key chain. It has the smae core drill, but it's on a nice keyring made of steel cable, so you could swap it to a necklace of your choosing, or leave it as a keyring, but after shipping, you only save a couple of dollars, if even that, and I'm not sure that it comes in the nice metal window case, which is a plus for display. Overall, this thing is great and wearing it is a great conversation starter. This thing looks expensive when worn on a nice chain. Like I said, if you're a Gurren Lagann fan, this is a must have.

When I bought this, the only skeptical thing I had in mind was the length of the necklace itself. Someone said it was small enough to be a bracelet. When I received the item, I'm sure the other person has a fat neck.The necklace length is average, reaching my sternum when put on.The Core Drill itself is very nice, and looks just like Simon's. It would have been nice if they put better threads in the drill, but considering the price, and quality, I'm not complaining.It's a good item that you can wear daily, which I do. It doesn't stand out too much, that's why I like wearing it everyday.The cons, the necklace is made of the weirdest material every. I can't describe it, but the material seems to be cracking. This has no effect on the flexibility of the necklace, but I can't help but think that it'll snap someday...The drill smells a bit at some points, and sometimes doensn't. This might indicate rusting in the future, but I hope not. The smell isn't that noticeable, only when you place it directly against your nose, and smell. When you let it hang, you can't smell it at all.All in all, this is a great item for fans of the series to have, and even many people who have no idea what Gurren Lagann is thinks it's cool.Also, some people complained about the small size of the drill. Yes it could be bigger, but then it'd feel awkward having it hang around your neck. I think the small size was a great idea, though it'd be nice to see how a bigger metal Core Drill would feel.

i have worn this drill core necklace every day since i bought it in 2011. it is now 13 years later, the gold finish is gone, the silver finish on the back is gone, but this thing and the show associated with it saved my life. and thats is why i continue to wear it. as long as a drill never stops spinning, it never stops moving forward.

Got 2 of these, one for meiosis left mine in the box) and the other for my fiance. He's not much of a jewelry wearer, but he loves it and NEVER takes it off. Its kinda adorable to hear him quote the show when he absentmindedly fiddles with it. The necklace part stays on well (he sleeps and showers with it on) and the drill pendant isn't heavy. It IS, however quite pointy. So be careful. (It doesnt seem to bother him though).Great gift for the Gurren Lagann fanatic in your life. Its inexpensive, great quality and the look on their face is soooooo worth it.

I'm not one to go crazy on reviewing, but this is actually pretty freaking awesome. I was expecting some near-cheap necklace, to be honest, with rough edges and paint that you could tell would chip with the simplest brush against anything. Its made of heavy metal, paint job is very professional, came in a tin case with a velvet-like backing. If you have bough anything anime-merchandise jewelry, you'll know what I mean. It comes in a Gurren Lagann packaging, and I was impressed by it.Now, I WILL say, the clasp is, in deed, quite cheap. I felt nervous wearing it and will be buying a new one tomorrow, seeing as I am cos-playing Simon this summer. Comes to about my breast bone, NOT my sternum, which is the length of the necklace in the anime. Its still a great buy! Great even for none cos-players, just don't do anything crazy like running or jumping or tumbling, cause you WILL stab yourself or break a tooth.
