It works, I should have gotten the wireless camera's as getting into my attic is very hard and not that much room to craw into. I like the Swann, its a good company.

I ordered a new Swann camera system for my home to replace the old one and when it arrived, I installed it the same way the old one was installed. After setting it up, it won't record because it says "HARD DISK NOT FOUND!"This is the reason I purchased it.Not only does it not work, it cost over $400.00.Customer service is no where to be found and after trying Google options, it's telling me to disassemble the box and check the hard drive or disk.That should NOT have to be done by me. I'm so disappointed with Swann, they use to make a good product. Never again Swann!!!

Both the manufacturer and Amazon were terrible and unhelpful when I called regarding this product not working properly. I was a couple of days beyond the Amazon 30 day return policy. Manufacturer was unhelpful and would not accept return unless I spent time trying to fix their broken product. If I did try they would have blame me for breaking.Will not buy another electronic anything from Amazon and for sure not anything from Swann.

I study computer science and I take on projects to better understand the technology around me. What you see in the picture is a HiSilicon Hi3531 on a Swann DVR8-5580A mainboard -- it's the "brain" of the unit. HiSilicon is a wholly owned subsidiary of Huawei and is very much banned in the US since 2019. It's worth noting that the unit was manufactured in 2021.

Purchased this unit with 8 cameras and within 2 months the hard drive crapped out. Swann wouldn't acknowledge responsability and asked stupid questions trying to trip me up in saying I had done something wrong. Will never buy another Swann product ever again. Stay away!
