Rhodes Scholar: Jazz-Funk Classics 1974 - 1982

CD 01 was blasting away in my car, yesterday, and it just sounds SOO good! The low-end seems to have a much meaty-er bass end and the channel separations just jumps from speaker to speaker. The new remastered mix makes these magnificent early pieces just sparkle and sound great! Highly recommended CD...Kudos to Bob James, Creed Taylor and Rudy Van Gelder!

Classic Bob James. A good combination of Jazz and Funk, it does sound 70s or early 80s rhythm. Songs compilation is also great.

I enjoyed the funk produced in that era and Bob James made a classic contribution to the Funk with this one.

I'm very impressed by the music of Bob James. This cd has introduced me to tracks I've never heard before but i will be playing very often from now on.

Lo cierto es que este teclista/pianista es desde los años 70s uno de mis favoritos. Allí a donde voy siempre acabo encontrando algo de él que no tengo; lo cierto es que tiene mucho, solo y acompañado. El triple vinilo Rhodes Scholar ya llevaba rondándome la cabeza hacía meses, quizás años, y ahora ya lo tengo en mi poder. A mis 55 años recuerdo todo lo que grabó Bob James y esta etapa fué muy buena para él, y para nuestros oídos también. Tenía una forma suave y sencilla de introducirnos en el Jazz, que por aquel entonces era muy complicado de seguir y de entender, y sigue haciéndolo igual de bien hoy día con la formación Fourplay. Es uno de los grandes al que no podemos perder de vista y estos vinilos repasan una buena parte de sus inícios. Vale la pena, sin duda !!!!!!!
