Cheap and effective
I bought the EP4s specifically for attending EDM shows. I think they work great. I was hesitant at first since this brand seems to cater more toward gun owners rather than live music attendees. But I picked the EP4 in the end due to its low profile and apparent secure fit compared to other styles of dynamic ear plugs. I've been attending a lot of live EDM shows over the past few years and I've started to notice some mild tinnitus so I wanted to start playing it more safe. I had a pair of Hearos in the past that I wore to 2 shows before one got knocked out of my ear and was lost forever. Since then I've been going in with naked ears until tonight. I just got back from a live show (Above & Beyond) where I used the EP4s for the first time, and my ears feel very good. I offered to buy my girlfriend a pair of these along with my own, but she didn't want any since she doesn't attend live shows nearly as much as I do and she doesn't have the mild ear symptoms I have. She attended the same show as me tonight without wearing anything and her ears are ringing and a bit painful whereas mine feel good considering the 3 hours of constant crushing sound we just went through. To be honest, I'm feeling some mild ringing and vibration in my ears at this time. But it's not painful, and the ringing really isn't more than what I normally have. It's very mild, I can only notice it now that I'm laying in bed in complete silence. As someone who has chronic mild tinnitus and who's left lots of concerts in the past with eardrums that felt shattered, I think the EP4s did a wonderful job. They're a bit tricky to get in since there's only one orientation in which they'll fit, but once they're in it's golden. They stayed in for 3+ hours without budging while I was jumping and dancing and all that sh*t, and neither my ear canals nor lobes felt sore afterwards. I forgot I was wearing them most of the time. I assumed the external portion of the EP4 that sits in your lobe was stiff and hard plastic, but it's actually very soft and flexible. I've thought of my ears as small and the Hearos always seemed too big for me despite getting the smaller size. I ordered the medium EP4s by following their size chart measument; the portion of my ear you're supposed to measure was exactly 1 in, so I got mediums and they fit snug, which is good. While using them tonight it was very hot and some drops of sweat rolled into my ear canals and got trapped by the plugs which was a little uncomfortable. So I took them out to dry off and while doing so heard the music at full blast: the EP4s definitely reduce the volume by a considerable amount. (Also, they were super easy to put back in with a little bit of sweat acting as lube.) Maybe the venue I was at tonight didn't have the best acoustics, but with the plugs out temporarily I heard lots more of the jarring/cracking bass tones like when you blow a speaker. Those sounds were pretty much non existent with the EP4s in. But I still felt I heard the music without distortion: clear vocals, solid bass, crisp melodies. All just quieter than had my ears been naked. But not so quiet that I felt I was losing out on the experience. Plus, the EP4s are like 33-50% cheaper than the other dynamic plugs marketed for live music. So I'm solidly satisfied with my purchase and will be using these plugs a lot during this Summer's festival season.

Saves my hearing at work.
Working at a club I am immersed in loud music and shouting people, which is bad day after day for my hearing. Before I would come home with ringing in my ears, now I am happy to say that I do not have that annoyance after work. This ear protection allows me to block out the loud base of our sound system while allowing me to still be able to clearly hear people talking. I am able to hear from clients and coworkers easily. Occasionally I need to hear how a speaker is tuned or to listen to how a motor is doing and need to take the hearing protection out of my ears. The design of this model allows me to easily place them back in my ears and this is why I recommend these over the foam ear plugs also made by Surefire. If you do not need to take your ear protection off then I would recommend the foam earplugs. They hide fairly well too. Clients and coworkers alike are shocked when I take them out of my ears at the end of work. The ear protection is also very comfortable. On top of that they have lasted me I do wish that the stoppers were easier to use. They are difficult for me to apply with out taking the ear protectors out of my ears. Also they are hard plastic and would occasionally become irritating when not inserted and freely moving around. I have removed them, which is a simple and non damaging process, and stored them for if I ever need them. Over all I am very happy with this product and would rate it higher if the additional stoppers were easier to apply. If you like your hearing pick up a pair of these or the foam version. They're both fairly cheap compared to trying to sleep with tinnitus.

These. Get these. Trust me.
I’m buying my fourth pair of these. I’ve been using them for over 10 years. I’ve never worn out or broken a pair, only lost them. (One caveat: if you’re in doubt of which size to buy, buy the smaller size. I’ve made that mistake. Won’t do it again. The D rings tend to make your ears sore over the course of a few hours and put pressure in the canal than be excruciating.) There are two main purposes that I love these things the most. LOUD EVENTS: I have sensitive ears. I have nearly constant tinnitus and have pain at even slightly above normal levels of noise. These *kill* the extra noise. At loud events I find that not only am I not overwhelmed with the noise but I can hear normal conversations *in the midst of the noise* from surprisingly far distances. These make it very easy to hear normal sounds because of the way they gate the louder sounds. And yet, they’re more than comfortable enough to wear all day. At the end of the day I often find that I’m in danger of losing the plugs because I wore them long past the event and left my storage case with a coat or bag that I don’t have with me anymore. Another huge plus: they’re well concealed. Folks don’t tend to notice that I have them in. HUNTING: At the range I tend to wear regular muffs to dampen the sound a bit more. In the field, however, these are GOLDEN. You can hear the leaves falling, the slightest rustle, even the breathing of a hunting buddy. And yet, when you finally take the shot they’re magnificent for muffling the sound to a manageable level. These are SO much better than electronic ear protection for hunting. You know EXACTLY what angle a sound came from, as well as the range. These plugs do not inhibit at all what your ears were grown to do. I wish I could adequately emphasize how valuable these are. I would HATE to ever go into the field without them.

Really great ear plugs for flying or working or hunting!!!
Have been using these to mow with push mower and riding mower and at range. They are very comfortable and will completely block all the sound out . Have found that it is very ez to open the small red part of the ear plug so thet you can hear a person talking and still protect your ears. The small holes only allows a small amount of sound to come in to your ears they work Very well hunting because we leave the small opening open until we are ready to protect or ears the small red tip can close them very ez . We have found that they still help protect our ears even if we don’t have time to close the small opening some how it stil blocks most of the sound. I have a family member that has very sensitive hearing they really have found them to be the best ear plug they have ever used. We have also used them on airplanes they make the ride so much better and you are still able to open the small holes to hear someone or something.

Used in a shooting class for 8 hours and were fantastic
I usually use Howard Leight impact sport ear protection (which are fantastic btw) for the amplification but sometimes, especially when shooting precision rifle, the cans can get in the way of a good cheek weld. I decided to try these out based on the good reviews. I was apprehensive that it would be too hard to hear instructions however, but in practice they allowed me to hear enough as well as dampen the shots from 15 other shooters at once to comfortable levels. I found these plugs comfortable to wear all day. They are 95% soft silicon and fit in my ear canal really well and the "ring" that sits in your outer ear to help keep them in flexes enough to be comfortable too. The only plastic part is the sound plug that can be used to really kill outside sound. It can spin in its socket, and if you don't rotate it, it can dig into part of your outer ear a bit. I found that I did not need to use that plug however as the sound levels unplugged allowed me to hear commands and not get blown away by concussive shots. They come with a silicone tether leash thing that basically plugs into both so you don't have to shove them in your pocket when you take them in and out. One side benefit of having that plastic plug unplugged is that when you remove them from your ear, there is no massive suction to hurt your ear drums. I think these will be my default hearing protection going forward. Relatively cheap, protects nicely, and super comfortable. I can't complain.

Too good to be true, sadly.
I had been looking for something lower profile than my Peltors to wear on the range. When I heard that these little guys had the same muting ability as the Peltors, but didn't take batteries and were tiny, I thought it was too good to be true. Sadly, I was right. They are nice ear-plugs, but they do not function at all like Peltors. They block all noise all the time. With the stoppers in, they block more noise. With the stoppers out, they block less; but I had to take them out to hear people next to me talking, regardless of the stopper position. I found them comfortable, but not remarkably so. They do attach to a radio stem, that is useful, but as far as the noise block goes, I did not find them any different from a regular set of foamy ear plugs. I guess I will stick with my Peltors on the range.

Don't go anywhere without these
I have had the Surefire EP3s for years, they have served me well in all facets from combat to power tools and sporting events. So when I was looking for a new set SureFire EP was the first stop. Knowing the capability of the EP3s and how please I am with them, I decided to give the EP4s a try with the triple flang and additional dB rating thought they would be even better at protecting my hearing and would be a plus to keep in the office or use at the gun range just in case I forgot to pack ear pro. As soon as I put the EP4s in (lanyard rope was a real plus) there was an immediate difference. I was expecting it to reduce the noises around me to make it easier to concentrate similar to the 3s. What I wasn't expecting was how well they worked, it created my own silent paradise. Think of when you relax in the pool and let your head go underwater and the relaxing silence, that was what it was like. Absolutely recommend the SureFire EP earpro series. Comfortable, secures in place for worry free movement, and works better then any other non-customized Ear Pro system.
