Outstanding series!
I'm a 40 year veteran teacher and I've used all of the different method books. Alfred's series is the most comprehensive. The Prep course is perfect for young children. I would use it for kids from 4/5 up to age 6/7. It's colorful and the explanations are easy to understand. It's my go to series. Kudos to you!

Highly Recommend
I use the Alfred's series for all my piano students. (I own a piano studio)The Prep Course is what I use for 5-6 year olds who are starting. This book goes hand-in-hand with the Lesson book from the same level. Definitely recommend using the complete series all together at this age.

The books are GREAT for beginners
We ordered this book along with Alfred's Basic Piano Prep Course Lesson Book Level A... The books are GREAT for beginners. My daughter is 6 and she has been zipping through these books and gaining confidence as she learns. They do a great job introducing kids to different types of notes (quarter, half, whole), piano notes, fingering, and more.

Books look very used and abused, not new.
I bought this book as new.... It looks like the book has been folded in half and the corners are damaged. This is not what I consider new.

Good lessons but confusing and unnecessary terms
The activities are good and resourceful, but the terminology was unnecessarily difficult and used very outdated terms. The simple terms of quarter note, half note, whole note, and dotted half note were not emphasized. Instead it used the words crotchet, semi-breve, breve, etc. It confused my students and was not the common known terms.

Not usable. Completed workbook
The description claimed the book was in very good condition. It’s a workbook for piano theory and the entire book is completed most of it in pen. It’s un-useable

great for kids age 3-6
The Alfreds piano series is quite flexible for all ages and for maturing students who can learn at a faster pace as they age. The prep courses allow the younger student to spend more time on the basic concepts.

Great series for my 4 year old
I’m a big fan of this series for my 4 and now 5 year old daughter. She was reading music on the staff at 4 and 4 months and we sang all the songs. I like that there are multiple books for each level so that she can keep learning songs at the same level. Other method books add new complexities in each song to the point that a child gets stuck or is afraid to try new repertoire. This series allows for you to switch between books at the same level so the child can master a variety of repertoire without getting bored. I’ve been pointing at the notes while she plays, singing the fingerings, singing the note names, and finally singing the lyrics. This way, repetition is never boring.
