Metal Kitchen Compost Caddy - Composting Bin for Food Waste Recycling (Purple)

Not quite as expected but no problem - it does the job as intended!Colour: the seller warned that colours cannot be accurately reproduced on device screens, but in case it's useful the cream compost caddy is a very pale cream, not the rich buttercream colour I was hoping for based on my computer monitor. Having read some of the questions about colour, I wonder if this is a newer version as some of the older reviews did say it was a deep cream? As a comparator, it is noticeably paler than the Dualitt cream toaster and kettle for example (see photo), but still blends in to my colour scheme. Had the colour been crucial to me, I would have bought from the high street / exchanged it.Size: the inner plastic bucket doesn't sit at the very bottom of the outer tin bucket - ie it sits slightly higher up / doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the tin bucket and is therefore slightly smaller capacity that I'd expected. This will be fine as I empty it regularly anyway.Design: the lid has a seal and seems to fit well - hopefully will keep fruit flies out and odors in! The lid handle stands proud of the bucket. It might have been useful if it was below the rim of the bucket so that you can balance things on top in a small kitchen, but this is a detail!Cleaning: I line the inner plastic bin with a piece of kitchen roll which can be composted along with my kitchen peelings. As a previous reviewer has said - don't overfill or the lid gets messy! It would be even better if the plastic inner bin had a plastic handle so that it could go in the dishwasher. I wouldn't want to put the inner bin in the dishwasher in case the metal handle rusts. Obviously don't put the metal outer bucket in the dishwasher.Overall, does just what I want it to do, and much more decorative than my usual plate of veg peelings!!!

Good size, easy to keep clean, lid lifts easily. Serves its purpose very well.

I am about to buy my third one of these - they last about 2 years before the paint chips and handle wobbles, but they work hard for that time.I like:- the usefulness (so no food waste in the regular bin)- the range of colours and smart appearance- the sealed lid which means it doesn't smell- the inner plastic liner which means it doesn't leak and also the compostable liner bag is hidden internallyI don't like that:- it's a bit too small. A family of 4 will fill it in a day.- the bags can easily get stuck if no one wants to take it out and keeps filling it! The handle isn't strong enough for that so pops off and you can easily drop the whole thing.- when it does drop, it dents/chips very easily- even with regular bleaching the internal white liner eventually stains (though it's not visible so it's a picky point)Worth noting that the seal will go mouldy unless you remove it and wash/dry it properly each time you empty it.It's good enough for me to keep coming back, but I always check out the competition in case a better one has arrived.

It looks really great in my yellow kitchen, but the inner plastic caddy is really hard to remove once the bag is full. When you pull it out by the handle, the handle comes off in your hand and you end up having to get messy hands to remove the inner caddy, and be able to tie up the bag.

I like the look of this caddy, and that it has a tight seal to prevent odours. However, the inner bucket has become difficult to remove so you have to wash it with bucket inside.

Nothing to dislike.

I’m really happy with this purchase. It has an inner bucket with handle making this so easy to keep clean and to empty. I put biodegradable food bags inside and put that straight into our composter. The lid has a good seal and prevents any smells from escaping! Really works well even though it doesn’t have a charcoal filter like some. But it really doesn’t need it!

nicely executed if a little smaller than expected.lid fits nicely...Suggestion: add some sort of fastening for the bags. To obviate the bag being pushed off the rim and falling into the container, upon taking the lid on and off. Perhaps a valuable diaphram......Package left on doorstep grrrrr
