Maxpin Dream Spin Mop--LOOK ELSEWHERE! See Update Beneath Original Review
Writing my review after the first use. Will update later if/as needed. Not gonna lie. I almost passed this one right up due to the unusual reviews that just seemed sketchy--let alone the fact that there were only 9 total. (Also, the "Folding Cube" claim in the product title almost drove me away as well. The what?? Clearly a misprint.) But as an Amazon Prime member, I figured I couldn't lose, so here's what I have to say post-purchase:WOW! I am very impressed! The Dream Spin Mop is very similar to the Mopnado (almost suspiciously so), except the mop plate is metal instead of plastic, and it stays in place instead of flopping all over the floor and thus defeating the purpose of the mop. This is the fourth "double-barrel" spin mop ("washer" and spinner in one bucket) that I have bought--not counting my single spinner Twist and Shout Mop that I am wishing to upgrade, and I'm sold on this one. (Returned all the others.) I will probably buy a spare and just keep it on standby in case the one I just received tonight ever gives way, because it is so hard to find that one product that has everything I need in a mop. For starters: a mop handle that doesn't feel like it was made for a dwarf!! :-(PROS:--AWESOME mop handle! 56" long, SUPER heavy-duty. This thing could easily be commercial grade.--Mop plate is stainless steel and very stable. Stays parallel with the floor during the entire process and doesn't flop up.--No drain plug that will leak, blast out, or warp--thus dooming the bucket. If you can't lift this sucker and pour out the water, you don't need a heavy duty system to start with. ;-)--Large bucket. A bit on the heavy side when full of water but, hey, at least it's not cheap plastic. Very well built.--Wheels and pull handle. Handle feels flimsy and I'm not sure it will last, but so far so good.--Mop heads are super soft, very fluffy, and very full.--Soap dispenser. Very small, but the volume will probably last me several weeks at the worst. It slips RIGHT IN THE TOP of the bucket! No frustration per trying to screw it in from the bottom.CONS:--Pull handle feels flimsy and I'm not sure it will last the long haul. (Pardon the pun!) More on that later.--Soap dispenser is smaller than I'd prefer but not a deal breaker by any means.MOPPING TIP: For best results, mop with a VERY wet mop. Once done, wring mop nearly dry and lightly re-mop in order to "dry" the floor. It dries very quickly afterward, and the wet mop will allow for better "washing" of the floor. (I have cleaned professionally for a living for nearly 30 years and this is my standard M.O.)UPDATE:Can't believe I'm doing this but I'm putting this down to one star in order to affect the overall rating. I had used the mop probably 7 or 8 times before the screw holding the mop head plate together broke off and forced me to scout around town for a viable replacement. No sooner was that done than the plastic gear stripped inside the bucket, and my ability to spin out a sopping wet mop is now a "random chance"--depending on just how the mop head situates on the spinner any given time I situate it. Will it ring out this time? Will it sit there and slosh until I randomly (say, the 4th, 5th, or 10th time) situate it accurately? What are the odds this time?Terrible shame, because the system is actually an awesome idea. But I can't give 5 stars to something that broke significantly the first 7-10 times I used it and has now been rendered far more frustrating and futile than it's worth.Original Subject: WORTH EVERY CENT!My updated subject line? The spinning is really cool, but there is a reason a real mop ...
The spinning is really cool, but there is a reason a real mop and wringer is made the way it is.This is just a cheap knockoff of a really good idea that has evolved over the years. The plastic in the mop head does not stay coveredwith the mop ends, so you will hear the plastic scraping the floor, if you are not careful. The wringer is excellent, but I had to use my foot to align the mop head with the wringer, which was clunky. I found out about the spinning action quite by accident. It really is not explained in the instructions very well. I think the instructions were written in Chinese and translated to English or something like that. All in all, it works, its cool and fun, but just a toy. I would never recommend this for a real mop. Forget the rest of the reviews. When the novelty wears off, people will be ditching these things. This is not for this mop only, but all of the spin mops. Like most really good ideas, the execution lacks!
