Basic is in the title.
Great book for those intimidated to create garments from patterns. There are examples of what not to do also. As for a basic guide this is a good one. It’s a 60page book not an all-you-need-to-know guide which I think some of these reviewers thought this book would be. Also, the pics are big enough and detailed enough to begin one’s own basic fashion illustrating.

Not what I expected
I should have known by the price…not at all what I expected. SUPER basic with no formulas for creating slopers. It is most definitely a good assist for folks taking a pattern making course though, especially if they aren’t particularly grasping the concept. I teach fashion design classes and will most certainly recommend this to students as an assist, but definitely not good if you are trying to learn how to draft patterns from scratch. I do love how it’s illustrated though.

Useless
This is to aide beginners? I'd sure like to know how. Save your money and i will give you a summary. It shows you photos of basic blocks with out instructions on how to make a basic block. I am very aware of what a block looks like so this is utter garbage

Basically a synopsis of illustrations
There is a reason the author mentions it’s a supplement to other books. It is very sparse on details. If you don’t have a basic understanding of what the pictures are demonstrating you would be very lost.I like the images and I do fine it useful as a reference guide but that’s really about it. It’s almost like buying a textbook, removing the text, and just lumping the illustration into chapters.
