Rizzoli & Isles: The Complete Fifth Season (DVD)

Family matters...
The fifth season of Rizzoli & Isles comes to a close with "Family Matters", which features a head-scratching murder case involving a married couple inside a locked hotel room, and a little bit of closure on various "family" matters for the core cast of this excellent television show. For police coroner Maura Isles, her season-long relationship with a promising boyfriend comes to a critical decision point, as he offers her a choice of stay or go. Detective Jane Rizzoli finds some overdue closure on the departed Detective Frost, and the inspiration to solve a case. Jane's mother's late in life job search finally comes up aces. Detective Vince Korsak tests the waters on whether he can handle his day job and his night job. Jane's brother Frankie gets to finally earn a little respect as the new detective on the squad. It's all good, and good fun, for fans of the series, and recommended. Rizzoli and Isles will be back in June 2015 for another season.

Love this show!
I just wish there were more of it! I have watched all current shows, and now have to wait til they resume new shows mid February 2015. I love the balance of humor, friendship, camaraderie, a little romance here and there, yet a little suspense, a little crime but usually not too graphic or prolonged. I enjoy that it has a relatively small amount of tension and a nice balance of fun stuff, yet enough twists and different cases to keep each episode interesting and fun, not repetitive. Rizzoli has an obvious type of humor, while Isles has a subtle humor--she isn't necessarily funny in what she says, but in how she says it, or in revealing her off-beat point of view. I sometimes wonder if they crack up on the set when she says some of her lines, even tho she largely has a straight face during the show, cuz her character isn't trying to be funny--it's her perspective that is funny. Anyway, I hope they keep this show coming for a long time still!I REALLY miss Detective Barry Frost on this show, and am sad every time they show his empty desk or a flashback of him. I'm not wild about the other Rizzoli suddenly becoming a full time detective with the group instead of the learning, growing up but inexperienced little brother he was before Frost's departure--way too big a jump too fast. I'd like to see him in a different work group, crossing paths with his sister's group now and then. I do like the new woman they brought in, tho she doesn't yet seem like one of the group...which is probably as it should be for a while.

Keeps getting better because of the growth in the leads relationship
This show just gets better and better. Primarily because of the friendship and professional relationship between the two leads continues to develop and grow. There is such mutual respect and love for each other and the way the season ends with the camera fadeout on the two of them laughing and chatting sums it up perfectly. The support cast continues to grow as well as the show wouldn't be nearly as good without them. The producers and cast dealt with the death of Detective Frost sensitively in the first couple of episodes and his presence continues to be felt throughout the season. Jane pays her friend and comrade a wonderful tribute in the final episode which also brings some closure to her grief over his death. The cases are always interesting but it's the chemistry between Jane and Maura that make this show such powerful entertainment.

what I missed out on
I love this show. I cannot believe I have never heard about the show before it went off the air. I am glad that I was able to buy individual seasons of the show: Rizzoli & Isles. The one thing that I have noticed while watching some of the episodes, is that a couple of the episodes would freeze between 5-10 minutes while i was watching, but then the show would continue.

I'm surprised but pleased
I was pleasantly surprised by this series. The ads make it look rather shallow like a couple of hot babes solving crime while never messing up their makeup and hairdos but it really has more depth to it than that. The friendship between these two very different personalities is interesting to watch as it develops. Detective Rizzoli is the bad end of town tomboy who would really like to go to work in sweats while Dr. Isles is the somewhat pampered rich girl who takes off her stilettos to go dumpster diving at a crime scene. The way they interact and influence each other is very well played.

Crime fighting duo.
Jane Rizzoli is part of an Italian Crime fighting family and Laura Aisles is the Medical Examiner who getsinvolved helping Jane solve crimes. Just like the last season . . . it is a fun tale.

One of my favorite television series
I got hooked on this series. I am a fan of Angie Harmon. Then I found that Bruce McGill was a regular, too, and two of my favorite actors on the same series. I also like the other actors and characters. The stories are interesting and fun. I like to watch it over and over.

It isn't the best crime show on television
While this show has had it's ups and downs, overall it is a pleasure to watch. It isn't the best crime show on television, but it is the best show with two strong female leads that aren't constantly pitted against one another or suffering from miscommunication issues. I'm grateful for that. The chemistry between the lead actresses is wonderful and the supporting actors really add to the show. I must admit to enjoying the new showrunner Jan Nash. The show's picked up a more light-hearted feel while maintaining some drama. Is there room for improvement? Definitely. But for the genre, this is just loads of fun to watch.

Awesome show
I love the show Rizzoli and Ilses. I found out that it wont be coming back on. Very disappointed in that. The main reason I really like the show is to prove to the guys that us girls can kick ass too!I love the show Rizzoli and Ilses. I found out that it wont be coming back on. Very disappointed in that. Good Entertainment
Such a good show! We really enjoy this series and it continues to entertain. Good weekly stories and likeable characters. Really sensitive handling of the tragic death of the young man who played Detective Frost. Great scene on the bridge. Movie quality production values.

A fifth home run by those Red Sox Fans Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander!
Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander do it again for a fifth season. It is just a delight to watch Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander seek the answers to crimes with which they are faced, with seriousness, levity, and family. a fun time with a who done it.

Another season of really great stories
Another season of really great stories. These characters are great, and the actors inhabit them seamlessly now. The loss of actor Lee Thompson Young was handled with quiet dignity, which impressed me even more that I already am with this series. I can't wait for season six.
