Great tool, just right for the job
Great tool, made a difficult job very easy. Worked on an LG WM4270HWA front loader. Once the seal is attached in place on drum, it took seconds to put the spring gasket on. I recommend taking the entire front of the machine off to gain better access to the seal, wiring, drain plugs, etc..

It Really Works
Had to replace the water pump on LG front loading washer, the water pump is located inside and at the bottom of the machine and thus required removal of the rubber gasket that prevents water from leaking out the door. The only way to easily remove the gasket is with a tool like this. The tool is sturdy, easy to use, reasonably priced, and does the job of expanding the retention spring that holds the metal retaining hoop around the gasket.

Works in under 20 seconds.
10 stars. Not sure who these people are leaving reviews that it's not wide enough or the prongs don't fit. They're lying. Probably missed their return window and tried to extort Amazon for a discount or refund.I pulled this out of the package and 20 seconds later I had reattached the snap ring on my Kenmore Elite front-load washer.Don't hesitate to buy!

Take some affordable but can get the job done
My washer has severe mold in the rubber gasket. We removed it and put into the Clorox mix and the mold completely gone and cleaned. However it is very hard to put it back to machine. My husband got the cut when he trying to use his own tool, thus decided to buy this to try the luck. I’m glad I did the right decision. It is still not easy to extend the spring since the head is straight, the spring will keep coming out when pulled. It takes some afford to get it down. Luckily that it can make it with very cheap price.

Didn't work for me
Bought this when I was replacing the door seal on my Whirlpool WFW9150WW02. This tool opens to approximately 4 inches maximum. The spring clamp on my washer needed to be expanded to about 6 inches. Since I needed to get the job done immediately, I had to resort to bending the jaws out until they opened far enough to expand my clamp. This wasn't easy since this tool is actually built quite well. I had to use a hand held sledgehammer to get the jaws to bend outward. I recommend an expansion tool that screws out. They can stretch the spring much further. Here's an example of one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CKYX8W7X/ref=sspa_mw_detail_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9kZXRhaWwp13NParams

Spend the money and buy it.... very, very, very challenging to remove spring clip without it.
We have an LG Washer. A few years ago the large rubber door seal got a tear in it, and I figured with my "skill" I could get the large spring clip off with basic hand tools to remove and replace the rubber seal. I tried every truck in the book, but it took me hours and lots of cussing to get the clip off and back on. This year, the door close sensor was acting up, and to get to it you have to partially peel back the rubber seal - but you have to take the spring clip completely off. I purchased this tool and am glad I did. So easy - a few seconds to get the spring clip off, and a few seconds to reinstall. You may only need / use this once in your life, but you will be glad you have it. I think the official LG version runs $50, but this at $12-15 works great.

A must-have tool for DIY front loading washers
I needed to replace the drain pump motor on an LG front-loading washers. Several very helpful YouTube videos mentioned this retaining band removal tool. Absolutely worth the money - makes removing and installing the door gasket retaining ring super easy.
