UX Strategy: How to Devise Innovative Digital Products that People Want Review: A UX Design Bible - This was the first UX/product design book I ever bought, and I still reference it to this day. I even told my boss recently that it was the most important UX book I ever read and that it turned me from a graphic designer into a product designer. I now work for a much larger company, with a great salary, on a big design team, and I’ve been labeled as the scrappy guy who’s really good at conducting usability testing and interviews. I definitely owe part of my success to this book. Review: Definite must have. - I highly recommend this book to anyone involved with UX strategy, whether you are the strategist or simply working in a field that requires UX strategy. I've been searching for a book that clearly outlines the process from start to finish for validating a business idea, and this book does exactly that. It explains how to take an idea from concept to either kill, pivot, or execution, which makes for an easy-to-follow approach to UX strategy. The first time through the book, I highlighted and bookmarked pages; the second time through I will use it as a guide with my next client; and each time thereafter I will use it as a reference. This book will never see Goodwill; it will be a definite go-to in my library. What I particularly liked about this book is that is truly all anyone needs to get started. Jaime does an excellent job explaining her process, which she's used for over 20 years, which therein lies a lot of value. Where else can you find such a treasure trove of helpful information? Without this book, I would be spending a lot more time troubleshooting the process. Why reinvent the wheel when this book is available to you?

A UX Design Bible

Unique perspective + very thorough
I loved this book and hearing Jamie's perspective on UX Strategy. I'm using it to redefine my team and how we contribute to the progress of our product from a strategic UX perspective - the highest praise she could have! She was VERY thorough, and I appreciated her templates. However, sometimes it was a little too thorough - two of the chapters are a full breakdown of every column of a spreadsheet, which felt a little overkill. I would have liked more description of running experiments, different types of research applied at different phases, and how this role changes over time as the product matures.

Interesting read and definitely a good place to start for a newbie
I read this book to understand various facets of UX and not just the design parts. I went into reading this book with the assumption that UX is all about interface, interaction and users when this book explains so much more to UX - the nuances, the intricacies, the lean approach to solving potential customer problems. I recommend this book to people especially who're new to UX and want a top-down funnel approach to designing and creating a new product not through conventional, traditional methods but through a lean, fail-first-learn-fast approach. I especially liked the whole "get out of your building, talk to customers before an MVP and not after" constant-learning approach to UX. I enjoyed reading this book and would suggest anyone interested in lean entrepreneurship and creating lean startups to have a good read with this book.

A must read for all product, business, and UX professionals
As a long time product manager in both startups and big corporate companies I can truly say that UX strategy is one of my favorite UX books. It highlights the most important tactics and practices in an overwhelmingly congested domain of UX, business, and product design strategies. The book is very well written with a straight to the point writing style and a wide variety of examples that helps readers see how the UX concepts are implemented in real life. I appreciated the chapters’ opening stories and their lesson learned paragraphs that served as a great introduction to every topic. The true added value of this UX strategy book is that you can equally learn from it whether you are looking to learning the overall concepts of UX, product and business strategy or if you’re looking for a step by step manual for implementing a UX strategy project effectively. Conclusion: Must read for all product, business, and UX professionals out there.

Awesome addition for the Lean Startup
If you have read the Lean Startup by Eric, and you love it, UX Strategy is a must read one for you too. This book basically takes you step by step from a problem hypothesis to a business model. I enjoy reading the book, as it's well written with less jargon and more content. I'm an engineer (PhD, yay!) and not a designer, but yet the book was easy to understand for me. The best strategy to read this book is to pick up a hypothesis, if you don't already have one, and evolve it to a business plan step by step by this book. This book literally is a walk-through for the Lean Startup!

Interesting book but not what I was expecting
This is an interesting book that, in my opinion, combines UX Design with marketing. The UX strategy is positioned as a separate domain or higher part of UX but the main idea is that as an UX Designer you need to understand the business and do your research. To summarize the book: as an UX Designer you have to have in mind both the business and the end user.

Great book with a misleading title
Terms can be slippery in the digital design world; when I bought this book, I thought it would be focused on how to plan new features and create product roadmaps. It does talk about those, but it mainly covers what you need to do *before* designing... is there a market for your product? Who are the users? What do they need? How can you quickly prototype your ideas and get them in front of users? This book contains powerful, well-known methods for building great products in a readable format. At it's core, this is a book about *Product* Strategy. I think the ideas here could apply to nearly any kind of product / service you want to build.

I’ve been reading a lot of books about strategy, UX and design thinking and so many of them were very redundant, didn’t go deep enough into the topic or simply couldn’t add any additional value. This book however does a great job of going into detail and explaining all the steps necessary to building a great UX for a service or product. It’s very tangible and fun to read. I’ll even read it twice because it’s so good :)

Chapter 1 What Is UX Strategy? Chapter 2 The Four Tenets of UX Strategy 主な内容:4つの基本理念 Chapter 3 Validating the Value Proposition 主な内容:価値提案検証(臨時ペルソナ、課題検証インタビュー) Chapter 4 Conducting Competitive Research 主な内容:競合製品調査(direct/indirect) Chapter 5 Conducting Competitive Analysis 主な内容:競合分析レポート Chapter 6 Storyboarding Value Innovation 主な内容:コンセプトメイキングとストーリーボード Chapter 7 Creating Prototypes for Experiments 主な内容:MVPとプロトタイピング Chapter 8 Conducting Guerrilla User Research 主な内容:ソリューション検証インタビュー Chapter 9 Designing for Conversion 主な内容:グロースハック(ファネルとアナリティクス) Chapter 10 Strategists in the Wild 主な内容:実務家4名へのインタビュー記事 Chapter 11 Denouement 主な内容:大団円 全体の構成をざっくりと言えば、Chap1とChap2が導入編、Chap3-Chap9が本編、Chap10とChap11はクロージングです。
