Long review - but good information
This review is for the "Fine" model - not the 4 stage models. I do most of the cooking in the house and like most people who cook, the workhorse is an 8" chef's knife. This review is based on sharpening good quality knives ranging from Henkles to a Wustof Ikon Classic. I had a similar knife sharpener that a specialty store gave me when I purchased the then $90 Wusthof knife 15 years ago. I just threw it out after receiving and trying this knife sharpener. It was past its prime. While I consider myself a semi-serious cook, I never bothered to learn how to use a whet stone and got by with the previous sharpener which did a decent job. This Priority Chef sharpener exceeded expectations, especially for the price. I never let my knives get terribly dull, so all I needed was a few swipes through the Fine stone slot (the video says to reserve the course slot for very dull or damaged knives). After maybe 10 swipes they were ready to go...and I mean drastically sharper. There is some confusion about whether to both push and pull the knife. From the day the store gave me my original sharpener, they told me only to pull back in one direction so that's what I always did. And that seems to work best with this sharpener, as well. Pull it backwards through the groove, remove it from the slot and repeat the same motion. Don't put too much pressure on the knife - just enough to hold it in place. I have no idea how a few reviews can say this doesn't work. Some people seem to find issues with everything. When the vast majority of reviews are positive and a small percentage are negative and overly dramatic - that tells me it's user error. One review was convinced it didn't work because the stones rotate with the knife...that logic would only be true if the knife was sitting on top of the stones. But the knife sits between the 2 stones, so there is both contact and friction. Now, is this the best or highest quality sharpener in the world? No. Will it sharpen better than a whet stone? Probably not - but it sure is quicker and easier. Will I display it on my counter? It's nice, but no. Will it turn a Wallyworld $39 knife set into high-end knives? No. Would I suggest it for a commercial kitchen? No. But...I'm impressed with the immediate results I experienced sharpening some pretty good quality knives. Like most things I review, I frequently suggest having realistic expectations with a product and most importantly, knowing how to use it properly. This is a pattern throughout my reviews of hand tools, power tools, kitchen tools and most everything else. Overall this works well, is cost-effective and easy to use. I recommend it. NOTE: I purchased this item on Amazon for full price and have no affiliation to the seller. I try to write helpful, unbiased and insightful reviews because I also read reviews prior to making my own buying decisions. I notice many reviews lack helpful information, are not well written or give poor reviews based on not following directions, failing to read the product details prior to purchasing, inexperience or lack of skill. Writing useful reviews helps pay it forward.

What a difference!
Years ago, I bought a set of knives from Amway, and the instructions said they should be sharpened by a professional, not using a home sharpener. Since I couldn't find any professional knife sharpeners (I didn't try that hard), my knives simply got duller and duller without my really noticing it. Trying to cut a raw sweet potato was the eye-opener for me. Amway doesn't sell these knives any more and I thought I was going to have to invest in a high-end ($$$) set, but just didn't want to spend the money.Bought this sharpener after seeing some reviews on it, but it arrived during a week of illnesses, so it sat in its box for a couple of weeks before I got it out and followed the instructions to watch the video. The video was simple, but informative, and I ran my knife through slots #1 and #2 ten times.Holy Cow. The difference in just that small amount of sharpening was amazing. I then grabbed every sharp knife I had in the kitchen, serrated and all, and ran them through the device. It was easy, it was quick, and the results were gratifying. I need to go back with some of them and give them a few more run-throughs, but the video said to start with 5 or 10, and see if it was enough for your purpose, and that's what I did.I hope this sharpener lasts a long time, because I don't think I want to be without it.

A sharpener that works well..
Does sharpen dull knives pretty well. I believe it's a 17 degree angle on the blade (but you could check the Q&A section or call the company). Only had it for a couple of months so I can't comment on product longevity yet. May take a few more strokes than mentioned in the instructions to sharpen dull blades, but that depends on how blunt the knife is to start with and how hard the steel is. Nice to have the diamond wheel and ceramic honing wheel for edge finishing. Supposed to be able to sharpen (or at least improve the sharpness of) serrated blades, although I haven't yet tried this (and probably wouldn't unless absolutely necessary). Unit is stable, although the non-slip base could be improved. It will stay put if you apply decent downwards force (excessive force not required). The sharpener base looks like neoprene material, although my guess is that it's made of a nylon/polyurethane blend. Handle and base is made of metal which looks like it could be 304 stainless, with plastic housing surrounding the wheels. Overall a nice sharpener, but just an FYI, I did see a unit by another brand on Amazon that looks mightily similar at half the price (don't know if it's the same unit rebranded or not). The company (Priority Chef) had good communication via email and delivered the unit as promised. I would recommend the product.

Works very well on both regular and serrated knives
I've tried a few sharpeners in my kitchen over the years and all were mediocre. This is the first sharpener that is very easy to use and quickly sharpens all types of knives to a nicely honed, sharp edge. Excellent product!I've read the poor reviews coming from those that think they received "cheap knock-offs" because it doesn't have the "Priority Chef" labeling on the product. You need to understand that these days there are very few companies that actually manufacture their own products. In the majority of cases they have a 3rd party do the actually manufacturing and then add their own logos and other branding afterwards. If your "knock off" has two cutting wheels in each slot, then guaranteed you have the identical product whether it has the "Priority Chef" logo or not.

Easy way to very sharp knives
This sharpener is better than anything else that I've tried previously. What struck me immediately was how stable it was to use, with no movement whatsoever when sharpening a knife. There are two sharpening slots, onehas a diamond wheel and the other a ceramic wheel. The diamond wheel is for sharpening blades that have lost their edge. The second slot containing the ceramic wheel is for blades that are reasonably sharp already and just needing a better edge. The day this sharpener arrived I got all the kitchen knives out including ones not used for some time because they had lost their edge. Using mostly a combination of both sharpening slots - first the diamond and then the ceramic I sharpened all the knives to a very fine and sharp edge, easily capable of cutting paper. The previous sharpener I used was a type that clamped itself to the worktop and this one was significantly better. The previous one gave a coarser edge with small pieces broken from the edge and the blade would drag through the sharpener sometimes pulling it off the worktop. As you can probably tell I am very pleased that I bought the PriorityChef knife sharpener, its better by far than any sharpening method I've tried before! After doing the kitchen knives I even sharpened my Opinel pen knife to what I thought was sharper than when it was new.
