Ce troisième volume aborde l'année 1970, soit deux-trois ans après l'invention par Gram Parsons de la "Cosmic American Music", c'est-à-dire une relecture avec les codes musicaux du moment aux USA de la musique "Country & Western". Bear Family Records, le label allemand qui propose cette série de compilation admet très volontiers dans l'excellent livret (de 82 pages !) que l'absence de certains groupes ou artistes (CSN&Y, CCR...), du fait d'un refus des labels/managements concernés d'inclure quelques-uns de leurs morceaux, constitue un sérieux désavantage. Quoi qu'il en soit, en alternant stars installées (Rick Nelson, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, The Band...), ou à venir (Allman Brothers, Poco, Linda Ronstadt, Kris Kristofferson...), et en ajoutant des "mavericks" (Michael Nesmith en rupture des Monkees, Townes Van Zandt, Jesse Winchester...) ou d'illustres inconnus (Morning, Wildweeds...), ce double CD nous donne un large aperçu, depuis les anciens hippies séduits par le bluegrass jusqu'aux annonciateurs de l'Americana, en passant par les cowboys de Los Angeles et les "outlaws" de Nashville, de la musique "country" qui échappe aux codes ultra-conservateurs du Grand Ol' Opry. Toutefois, le côté "cosmic" s'estompe au profit d'une approche sensiblement moins "transgenre" et déjà installée dans ses nouveaux codes. ***2/3

Confezione lussuosa, cd curato nei minimi dettagli fatto da persona appassionata, ad ogni brano corrisponde una foto e la storia del brano,super!!!! Consigliatissimo anche per chi non ha tanto amato il Country-Rock,musica senza tempo di una bellezza ancora oggi mozzafiato.
