Spot is cool!
Plot is a bit clunky, and the character development is a bit weak. For real though, it’s sturdy, just gotta make sure the flaps dont get mangled by the kids…

Thumbs up for Spot
I remember reading Spot books when I was a kid. Now at 29 I use these with my daughter :) She has been learning to read and these books are wonderful for beginners. They are short, with few and simple words. The pictures are cute and the stories are sweet. The board books are just simpler for the little ones to turn. I love that my 5 year old reads them to me. When she is reading I make her point to the words/use a ruler to make sure she doesn't just go off of memory. It helps keep the focus. Anyway, I would definitely recommend any of the spot books, but only for beginners.

Looking for baby animals isn't easy!
Spot and his daddy are looking for the baby animals on the farm in this book -- again, it's the same premise as "Where's Spot?" only with Spot doing the looking for the babies. My toddler likes the lift-the-flap function, and this is part of her ever-growing "Spot" collection...but I wonder why Spot is only with either one parent or the other, and not both of them (except for the "Goodnight, Spot" book) for this story? Mommy was at home, waiting for Spot and his father, and delivering the punchline (of sorts) with Spot. I give it 4 stars because my toddler is engrossed with all things Spot right now, and she seems to enjoy the stories...I just wonder if there are better story lines (like the "Spot Bakes A Cake" book)?

My nephew absolutely loves it and this a great way to introduce a 1 yr old to books and learn about animals and the soubds they make. Its a peekaboo style book that appeals to kids and adults alike.
