I have nothing negative to say about 80/20. They are an American company that makes a fantastic, high quality product. Anytime I've purchased aluminum profile from them, it's been packaged well and cut to the exact size. The black profile does scratch fairly easily, but I've noticed that a lot of times it's not scratched, it's just scuffed a bit from a piece of aluminum bracket sliding on it and it can be cleaned off with a rag. I love the way the black finish looks but it's a personal preference thing because the silver is easier to maintain and doesn't show scratches as much. These pieces I ordered are the thicker type. Normally, I order the LITE version which is still very, very strong. I just wanted some extra support for these pieces and they do weigh more since they have more material in the corner pieces all the way down the profile. I can't say enough good things about 80/20. I think their prices are fair, it's unfortunate we have to pay for shipping so I try to order several pieces at once to combine shipping a bit. Use good quality gusseted brackets with 8mm bolts and you can make an aluminum frame that is as strong as something that is welded and fully adjustable. It really is an incredible product and this thicker 4040 profile is probably more than you need for most projects but it can support a lot of weight and load if you assemble it properly with quality brackets.

I had to design and build a roof rack for my van that has an high and somewhat unique fiberglass roof. Existing retail and even commercial retail roof racks will not racks fit the van. If if I used another material, it would have required me to use outside parties to fabricate it, if I used another material; Once I understood some of the concepts with working with extruded aluminum and thinking a little outside of the box, this worked great. The rack is very strong and easy to work with and I can modify it with ease. As far as 80/20 material, it is very robust and a very good grade of aluminum. 80/20 have ancillary parts that other manufactures do not. Remember if you cannot use their attachment solutions, you can always drill through extrusions and use 3/8 bolts. You Tube videos are OK to get ideas how products work. Check out the guy that built cabinetry for his Mercedes van using 80/20!

80/20 has the best aluminum extrusions. Have bought from them several times and won’t buy from anywhere else.
