Excellent, excellent refugium light used in a 40 breeder sump.

Grows plants in my sump much better than any other LED fixture for the price.

Over all I think this is a good light for the price. My small complaint about it is the seemingly cheap construction and the assembly instructions were lacking in one or two small details. I have not owned this light long enough to judge its ability to grow chaeto, but I will update in a few weeks to report. Update: The chaeto I've been growing seems to be doing well under this light. So far no issues with the light itself.

Originally bought the bigger one because this one seemed too small, but large was too bright for my 20 gallon sump. (Easy return through Kohls.) After getting the ON timing adjusted, the Chaeto growth has been phenomenal. I have to remove half every month! The bracket configuration didn't match my particular refugium setup, so I put plastic 'egg crate' over the top and the light sits nicely on that. The cord is thinner than pump cords so the light can easily be moved out of the way when working in the sump. The ON/OFF switch on the plug adds to that convenience. All in all, a great investment for my reef.

October 2022 - the light has dimmed to about half brightness after about 2 years. It’s probably the power supply, but it’s not user replaceable, so going to need to replace the whole fixture. It worked well, just didn’t last as long as I hoped. So I've only had this a few days but wanted to review it and give my initial impressions. This is replacing a screw in 28W grow lamp/bulb I bought on amazon in 2017 and clamp on light fixture. First, the build quality is ok. It definitely doesn't feel like a premium product like a Kessil does, but it's cheaper. Second, it's literally two of the 9w lights connected together. This is fine, but I wanted to confirm it for potential buyers. As far as mounting goes, I used "L" mount to mount over my sump. Using the mount as delivered and intended the light fixture itself will be a little over an 1" from the edge of the sump/clamp. There is another set of holes on the metal bracket that can be used to bring it closet to the edge, but that will require cutting the metal L bracket or using longer screws and spacers. This option (longer screws and spacers and the alternate set of holes) worked great for my small Refugium and brought the light about 1/2" from the edge. As far as lighting is concerned, I think this is much brighter than the 28W bulb I had. At the very least more of the light is concentrated in the Refugium, I'm very impressed. Since my Refugium is long and narrow (almost exactly the width of this light) in lights very evenly. Also, it looks a lit slicker than the clamp-on gooseneck light I had and takes up a lot less space. I'll update the review in a couple months and let you know how it's gone.

Worth the money. Grows macro fast

It’s a simple light but I noticed it flickering, took a look, and realized half of the LEDs are out. I’ve been impressed by other IM products - this one is super junky. Will try to get help from customer service but didn’t even open the box until return window closed - lesson learned
