Q: What is the angle of the wedge?

It's 30 degrees when it's lying down, that is when the short edge is against the headboard. It's 60 degrees when the short edge is on the bed...standing up like in the picture.

Q: Is this shipped rolled up and compressed?

The other answers are from years ago, but I just received mine and it was rolled up and compressed.

Q: Can you use it the tall way like the photo shows, for sleeping almost upright? I am supposed to do that after nose surgery.

Yes, you can use it that way when my GERD is bad I sleep sitting up so I don't aspirate. I love my wedge and I use it all the time either up on end or laying down so that I have my head and back raised.

Q: Does the foam give off an odor?

I have not noticed any issue with odor. I think foam is capable of retaining smells in the environment. So a person who cooks with lots of exotic spices, smokes cigars or cigarettes or cannot allow fresh air into the room might probably smell those odors in the foam.
