Gross
Ive ate this before when my Uncle visited me from Hawaii. This is not edible! I believe this package is old. It tastes like mold and you cant get the taste out of your mouth! Its supposed to have a sweet acidy licorice and ginger taste to it but this does not!My mother who lived in Hawaii for 12 years tasted it and spit it out. The package has no expiration date on it as where it would usually be a big white label with a sku has been taped over. Do not waste your money

Love this stuff
I was introduced to this product by some family members who grew up on the U.S. mainland couldn't stand it and gave it to me. Wow, was it good! To be fair I lived in Hawaii for 40 years---so it may be an acquired taste.

I have ordered this product twice now and the product is stale and translucent. Not good
Nothing at all in the picture and description. This is twice now that this product has been send which seems like old product and the sugar was melted and stale

Serve ginger pieces diced over ice cream. Wow!
I live in Hawaii and buy this locally since it's cheaper here. I love it and have never had a freshness problem. I checked my package and found there is a "Best By ____ date on the package, at the bottom of the package. My package shows one year from the date I purchased it.My favorite way of eating it is over chocolate ice cream. I cut the ginger in small pieces and sprinkle it over chocolate ice cream and it gives it a surprising spicy zing and combines well with the chocolate. My dinner guests love it. Another way is dicing it up into plain yoghurt for a tasty mid afternoon snack.
