Very well inked markers. They give a diffinate mark on money, gold is real, black/dark umber is suspect money.These are excellent for the 99% of all money currently in circulation today. It will not work on very old money which had a different paper to linen ratio. These markers detect lignans, which is the fiber in typical paper. Most quality parchment papers for instance are lignan (and acid) free. Lignans and acid are also what makes paper turn yellow and breakdown. Newspapers are printed on a low quality paper, newsprint, which is very high in lignans and acid (pulp) which make it break down quicker than most papers.I have used these pens for the past 13 years at my place of business. They Only detect if lignans are present in the paper. You must still be aware of what currency in circulation looks like. I still light check $50 and $100 bills to look for watermarks and the magnetic strip. In many situations you may want tonpair these pens with a UV detector light to help prevent you from taking a fake bill.
