Open the box and it doesn't look like much at first
Open the box and it doesn't look like much at first, but the frame comes together easily (ages 6-7+?) and the mesh gets zipped up all around it. Strong clear plastic front with tough black plastic bottom. Really very well thought out idea and if there's a budding entomologist in the family, this is a MUST. Keeps the insects IN especially if located inside the home. We found moth eggs, waited until they hatched, scooped the baby caterpillars and are raising them for fun/educational purposes. Room for plants. stands 42'' high and 12" wide, 27" long.

Good product
Good product for home lepiditarium. I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 as I think it would have a better design if the zipper opened on 3 sides instead of 2. It can be unzipped along top and down one side. It was a bit difficult to water all the milkweed I had growing and also to access vases of cut milkweed that needed replenishing with fresh. But it served my purposes of hand raising Monarch caterpillars found outside in milkweed. I wish I had cleaned the interior of the plastic used for top and front viewing activities prior to getting all the pots of milkweed set up in the lepiditarium. It was cloudy with dust or residue and I did not notice until too late to clean for better viewing.

Poor quality; cover too small; plastic breaks
I need to contact the company. When I put this together I followed the insert. Not that there was very much information there. But everything seemed simple enough until I tried to put the cover over the frame. It was very tight and I thought ok, it is supposed to fit snugly, it should stretch a bit. Then I noticed one seam was starting to come apart. So I took it apart, checked all the joints and verified they were pushed all the way in. So I tried again, thinking I could just fix that one seam if that was the only problem. I had caterpillars that needed to be moved into a suitable enclosure for pupating and didn't have time to find something else. Anyway after struggling some more I got it on and zipped, thought it was good, then realized one of the plastic joints had cracked. Seriously? So I duct-taped that so I could use it. After 2 weeks of zipping and unzipping several other plastic pieces broke. Luckily duct tape got me through until I got all my monarchs released for this season. But now the thing is junk. And oh by the way, on close inspection I found that the fabric was gathered unevenly along the zipper on one side. This poor quality of construction is probably why it didn't fit. I would NOT recommend this to a friend.

Buying More !
Wow !Not what I expected (in a good way).I was hesitant to order because of previous reviews but it was what I wanted so I ordered the 13.75 size.It arrived much sooner than stated.Anticipating issues of seams and improper fit I figured if something happened I will just return it.I started assembly and nothing! And I wasn't easy on the thing !!!I took it outside (Florida) and let the sun warm the clear plastic window to help smooth the wrinkles from shipping out and it worked !The viewing window is very clear to see through, unlike the small pop up one I got where the viewing window is distorted to look through.I also attached wood to the top because of the reviews that say the chrysalis won't adhere to the netting.Because of my experience with this one I'm very comfortable ordering two more today!!!I hope my experience with them is just as good.If not I will let you know.Until then I think this is an exceptional product !!!Thank you !Thank you !!!Well I received another larger and smaller one.The larger one was fine but the smaller one had issues.A 3 inch seam opened without any force.Emailed the supplier and heard nothing from them ~ even after paying all this money for 2 large ones and a smaller one plus shipping. Not good business. If you need one buy the larger one.

HUGE
I under-estimated the size... a 5 year old can stand inside it! Thankfully my failure to add worked out for the best. My husband loved everything about it and it gave our painted ladies room to actually fly. Its sturdy and portable. The down-side is that there is that you can't just pick it up and move it when full. The bottom is soft, so be sure you know where you want it before putting in the plants or set it inside a large tray.

Very poor way to open cage
Very poor way to open cage. Access for cleaning hindered. There was a rip in the mesh and a broken zipper. I made my own door. The size was good though.

Water doesn't drain easily from the bottom because the black fabric is a ...
the one problem with this is that the plastic is on the top as well so its not suitable for the caterpillar to attach to when it's ready to pupa. I will place some branches in the enclosure so it has somewhere to grab on to. Water doesn't drain easily from the bottom because the black fabric is a tight weave. Apart from that it was very easy to put together and it is a good size for what I want.
