Zion: The Complete Guide: Zion National Park (Color Travel Guide)

This is the second book by the author, James Kaiser I've invested in and was not disappointed. Very detailed info on all that is Zion. Highly recommend.

Wonderful book! Much more than just a tour guide. ZION – The Complete Guide lives up to its name. I’ve been to Zion before, but never with this much information! James Kaiser is a fine author – able to include fine details in a book about an enormous area. He starts the reader off by sharing the overall adventure experience available at Zion, then talks about the basics of visiting that harsh wilderness – what to expect, and how to enjoy it. He leads us through a well-organized and fascinating read about Zion’s geology, ecology, flora and fauna. Then conveys the human history – from prehistoric tribes to Mormon settlers and western expansion. I really enjoyed how Kaiser keeps reminding us about how interconnected everything is in Zion. This was probably my favorite part of the book! But let’s not forget about the trail guides – Kaiser offers details and tips on all of the major trails (and many smaller points of interest, too). He breaks down the trails by general location and includes a Quick Guide to the area maps and topic index. The icing on this cake is Kaiser’s breathtaking photos – presented in fine detail on glossy paper. I highly recommend this book – buy ahead so that you’ll have time to read before you get there!

Everything about this book is excellent: photos, text, paper, binding, and size. We just returned from Zion and found the book very useful. I've enjoyed it so much I'm still reading it, even after the trip!

Used it a lot to plan our quick trip out there

Bought this book to read about Zion as hubby and I were going for the first time. It is extremely well written with tons of helpful information about every aspect of the park and surrounding area. We did the Narrows bottom-up and the extra little details the this boom provided were very wonderful in planning. We had such an amazing time and can’t wait to read more and plan our next adventures!!

This book is a great help in determining which hikes are right for you. It also enables you to locate hikes that are less known and outside the canyon.

I took this guide with me on a recent trip to Zion NP. It was loaded with handy information, and description of hikes was especially helpful.
