Good Quality at a Good Price
I was worried these inexpensive clippers wouldn't be adequate for my two toy poodle mix dogs but I was pleasantly surprised. They went through my dogs' fur with ease, did not heat up even when working on the dogs one after the other, and after a bit of practice with clipper set and a separate set of dog fur scissors, my dogs are looking pretty good. I'm careful to oil them as instructed and though I haven't experienced heating, use a cooling spray during use. The included DVD is unfortunately useless to me, because I no longer have DVD equipment. I'd appreciate the instructional video being posted online.

Quality is not great....
This product is only good for small or short hair dogs. It's very quiet but heats up quickly while holding it. I wasn't able to finish grooming my dog and needed to take her to a Groomer. There are only two settings and they're not too powerful. I don't recommend this at all. If you're going to spend the money get the $375 Andis clippers, they work amazing and they lasted me for over 10 years!

Decent clipper for 30 min of "light" use per day
Well I didn't expect much out of these clippers based on the price and description. They worked well for about 30 min of use then heat up too hot maybe or something, but just end up pulling the dogs hair out. But hey for the $ what do we expect.I never did get a DVD, but whatever, youtube has more info than they would have sent, but lose a star for the false advertising.Overall, if you have a 20lb dog or less and want to "maintain" a trim, a good buy! Anymore than 30 min per day, look for a better clipper.

Exactly what I was looking for
My maltese needs to be groomed about once a month to keep a clean look and avoid the long nappy mess he turns into. At about $60 a pop for professional grooming I figured even if I got through one at home it would save money. I'm very happy with the performance of these clippers. I've never groomed a dog before but I watched the DVD and got to work on the big mop that was my dog. The motor is nice and quiet so he was comfortable and it was powerful enough to get the job done. It did take many passes to work down to the length I wanted, it wouldn't just power through his coat. That's probably best at my skill level anyway since it gave me time to see the end result taking shape. Definitely going to save a ton of money in the long run so I would recommend these for anyone with a small dog requiring frequent grooming.

Not a great choice
These clippers were not a good choice for me. The short video quickly goes over grooming a poodle and a terrier. so it isn't very helpful for double coated long hair dogs. The picture on the front of a sheltie leads you to believe it could handle grooming this breed. A had a collie and so I thought it would be a help. But the cutting blade had trouble getting thru the hair even tho I had already trimed the hair much shorter than it is naturally and there were no mats at all. The unit heats up pretty quick also. I gave it two stars for two reasons. 1. The scissors are great and did a great job on trimming the ears and feet. 2. The trimmer is very quiet. Much better than my older pair and did not scare my dog or my sister's small pek mix. This may be a good choice for the poodle or terrier owner but I would not recommend it for longer double coated breeds.

Be wary of the comb points if you have small dogs
I got this trimmer for my papillon on a recommendation from a vet friend of mine who also owns papillons. The trimmer does a good job with trimming, is very even, and easy to keep clean. But if you have a small dog, be careful of the points on the plastic combs. Even though the blade itself is a safety blade and cannot cut your dog, the tips on the plastic combs themselves are sharp enough to cut if they catch your dog's skin at the wrong angle. I was trimming my dog with the No. 2 comb attachment when she suddenly jerked and caught her thigh awkwardly on the plastic comb points. They opened up a half-inch gash that my vet needed two staples to close. If you buy this trimmer, consider filing down the points some of the comb attachments - there's no reason for them to be as sharp as they are, and they divide hair just as evenly if they've been slightly blunted.
