Can you slide the leg supports to fit a larget tank? I have a 35" tank and want to buy the 30" light, will I be able to fit it?

You can slide the legs out a little bit, but not five inches worth. Best to go with the 36" model.

Is this light made in China?

??? Chicago based company, nothing on outside states where it was made. Good bright light and color, grows plants easily!

My tanks actual size is 35.5". Will the 36" fit this slightly smaller size?

Yes, it may just look a little bit funny as the light will stick out a little bit on each side and the legs may sit a little in a little bit from where you want them to but it will work.

What lid can be used with these lights on a basic 20 gallon tank with a hang on the back filter?

You’re better off going to the tank manufacturers site to find a lid for the tank. The light mounts outside of the tank frame so you may be limited to a glass top (possibly hinged) that fits inside of the black frame to accommodate the Stingy mounting outside of the frame.
