Seventeen dry seasons is the spiritual journey of a young girl. Unlike many books, it investigates the world of spiritual power and energy as a very natural and beautiful phenomenon. The author manages to bring the reader into a world of imagination and reality, encapsulating the ancient and modern beliefs in the journey of the spirit. It can be enjoyed by both young and old readers. My 8 year old grandchild was able to understand it (she has read many of the Harry Potter books). She found it girl friendly and enjoyed it and learned about importance of Yemanja as a spiritual deity in West African tradition as did her mother.
