Dig into you heels.
As noted near the sizing info, these shoes did fit somewhat snug when first trying them on. After wearing them for a few hours, they loosen up a bit and the fit was eventually fine in my case.Several comments mention that these shoes dig into your heel. They do. Horribly. When my pair arrived, I noticed immediately that the heel on my right shoe turned sharply inwards, and the heel on the left was straight (as you would expect). When I went for a short run, I decided to wear a pair of slightly thicker socks, expecting the right heel to straighten out like the left shoe. It didn't. But not only did the right heel not straighten out, it wore a hole through that sock.Since the left shoe was very comfortable, I decided to order a replacement instead of just returning the shoes. That turned out to be a mistake. *BOTH* of the replacement shoes had heels that turned in sharply at the top, and I decided not to even try them on. Why the shoes are designed this way, I have no idea, but I can't see how anyone would find these shoes comfortable.

I'm happy, but I see room for improvement
I am thrilled to see a goretex Minimus, I've been waiting for this shoe and am very excited.First the fit; I have wide feet and usually wear a size 9 2E in a Minimus, to wear normal width shoes I usually go up a half size, but for this shoe I read reviews saying they run small so I went for a size 10 and that fit well. I'd suggest going up a half size.Like most gear, how you use it has a direct relationship to your experience and how happy you are with it. I use these shoes primarily for long range hiking and backpacking, usually over 10 miles per day and often with more than 3k of gain, only occasionally for running or biking in town, rarely for general use.I've worn these shoes on a multi day backpacking trip and they held up well in wet and muddy conditions, had good grip and were mostly a pleasure to wear. One issue I have is I feel a lot of rubbing on the back of my heel, (noticeable on short hikes, but I didn't find it an issue, starts to become uncomfortable around 7 or 8 miles), almost as if it needs some padding or different material in the back of the heel. I tried wearing different socks and that didn't help, I was glad I had moleskin with me. I was hoping they would break in but so far no luck.I've hiked probably around 100 miles in them so far and on both shoes she sole is starting to peel away from the top at the toe where the rubber wraps around, it's not an issue yut, but I'm wondering how long they will last if they are showing that kind of wear already.I love these shoes, even with the issues I mentioned, I only hope the next generation is a little more comfortable and offers wide sizing, and I hope they hold up.

Ugly, but solid and functional.
This was my first attempt at buying shoes online. I was nervous about the fit, but the first time I put them on, it just fit. A few months later, I'm still happy with them.I did get some nasty blisters on the back of my ankles the first time I wore them. The back of the shoe is more rigid than I would have expected. Moleskin took care of the blisters and the shoes broke in just fine. I walk in them up to 40 miles a week on pavement and haven't had a blister since.I was worried about the outsoles. They're Vibram, but they don't look like much. I figured I'd be walking right through them in a hurry. No such problem. Wear is quite light for what I've put them through. They're not the lightest shoes I've ever worn. They barely make the "minimalist" category, but that extra weight is put to use as structure and stability. It's still a barefoot-type sole, but they don't feel like a pair of socks with rubber soles glued to the bottom. I have no concern that my foot is going to slip around within the shoe or that if I have to do a little climbing, my foot and the shoe aren't going to stay in place. The waterproofing has done just fine. It's good for cutting through shaggy lawn on a wet morning. The color -is- as bright as the picture looks. Don't buy the electric blue hoping it's a lighting issue.I've put a couple hundred miles on them in an urban setting and the only wear on them is superficial.

Great looking shoes
I've owned another pair of NB Minimus Trail shoes, but wanted the Goretex due to it being made for wet environments. It fits just like the other pair I own (go a size down from what you normally wear in athletic shoes). The shoes look absolutely awesome, the shade of blue with the black looks really nice. My only two problems is that the area around the ankle is a little itchy, but should probably go away with wear, and the shoes are kind of loud while walking around, almost like pieces of fabric peeling away from each other, but I suspect that's normal considering the material. If you're looking for a nice trail running shoe that withstands water and is light on your feet, get these.

Must Be Broken In for Awhile
This particular Goretex NB Minimus shoe has been a different experience than other non-Goretex minimus shoes I've purchased. Specifically, the shoes have rough spots in a couple of places on the inside near the lacing tongue and in the heel region that rub uncomfortably when wearing without socks. I love the other Minimus shoes from NB that I've purchased in the past but those were not Goretex so wondering if perhaps that is the difference in these shoes and contributing to the less comfortable fit. As a counter-point, the shoes fit as expected and look great! I did try washing the shoes and I think that has helped soften the hard spots up a bit but still working on breaking them in so to speak.

Poor quality control
On the right shoe in the back where the tab meets the shoe it's poorly sewn, it creates a bump on the inside that makes it impossible to wear without rubbing on your aquiles tendon. I have only used them to walk around in "civilized" conditions and almost got a blister. I can imagine the damage they will do in a trail, which is the purpose of this running shoes. The problem is only on the right shoe, the left is great, so I guess if I hop in the woods only with my left foot I should be ok!I am returning them to get another pair, but if it is the same, I will return them and buy another brand!
