Overall a Great Starter Book on Emotional Intelligence
Great breakdown and examples. It would be nice to include some exercises or even a schedule to work to improve EI.

Choosing this book was a great idea!
Not only was this book fun to read, it opened my eyes to not only emotional intelligence in which I thought I lacked but also brought me into different concept like self-awareness, empathy, and self regulation. 10/10 would recommend to everyone!

Not enough told about persuasion skills or E.I. in the work place.
Emotional Intelligence "E.I." is the ability or skill to be intelligent about emotions. This includes emotions of your own and those of others. You need to recognize, discern, and manage emotions. (The last is exceptionally hard to do.) You must be cognizant and in control of your emotions and to express these emotions appropriately. This is a skill that can be learned. Yet this is hard to do when you are dealing with yourself (internally) and in interpersonal relationships (externally.)This book explains why emotions matter in everyday situations, identifies all the opportunities that you have to apply E.I., and it helps you to test whether you have been acting intelligently as far as emotions are concerned. It explains self-regulations and gives ways to improve your self-awareness.Within these pages you can learn how to handle your own emotions and how to deal with people who do not know how to handle their own.**** FOUR STARS! I especially like the test that the author gives. It is about fifteen questions in length and helps you determine if you are emotionally intelligent or if you need improvements. I wish more was told about persuasion skills though. I do not feel that nearly enough was said besides the fact that it should not be confused with manipulation. The chapter about emotional drain and energy vampires is well done. Everything is well explained, and the author's description of these vampires will immediately make at least one person pop into your mind. Here readers learn how to deal with energy vampires.Another chapter I enjoyed was the one about emotional intelligence at work. Again, I feel that more time should have been spent on this chapter. As it is, I feel that I need to find another book to help me in this area. ****Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

I really like this book
Really good book, I read this book because i wanted to improve on my emotional maturity. This book helped me see which areas i need to improve at. It also had great information on narcissism although i do believe in my experience with narcissists that they do not change, and in some cases its better to leave them.

Not The Goleman
Whether a fortuitus accident or an effort to cash in on a similar name, I missed the fact that this book is not a newer version of Daniel Goleman's original book on this topic (which I have not read yet, but was intending to when I bought this), but a somewhat shallow and simplistic handbook by a completely unrelated author who does not seem to have any readily apparent credentials with this topic. This book still gets three stars from me because it does a good job of hitting the high points and organizing the discussion, but it certainly does not dive deep and the tone can come across as vaguely arrogant and condescending at times toward those that may have a low EQ but who are interested in improving it (otherwise why read a book on EQ in the first place?). It reads more like a long blog post strong on opinion and somewhat light on facts or well researched, well documented science. It may still be a good into into the subject for those without the desire to read a more profound work.

Quick read . Precise. Interesting
This is a good casual read. This helped me in becoming self aware and helped me in retrospection. From work point of view I can now understand what it means to be intelligent in a work environment.
