THIS IS AN EXCELLENT BOOK ON SAMUEL PALMER- THE BEST YET.ALL PERIODS OF PALMER,S PAINTINGSAND DRAWINGS ARE DESCRIBED AND PALMER DID NOT LOSE ANY OF THE MAGIC WHEN HE BECAME OLDER- THE LATE ETCHINGS AND WATERCOLOURS ARE WONDERFUL.PALMER KNEW MORE ABOUT DEPICTING SUNSETS THAN TURNER AND WAS MUCH MORE OF A DRAUGHTSMAN .

This book is a joy. Intellectually challenging, informative and beautifully illustrated. It places Palmer firmly within the context of his time but also relates the ideas he was grappling with to wider concerns about the ongoing problems of humanity's relationship to nature.
