Sonic Modernity: Representing Sound in Literature, Culture and the Arts (Edinburgh Critical Studies in Modernist Culture) 1st Edition

A review in the Times Literary Supplement for 25 October 2013 suggests that this is a very good book on an important subject. But the price is ridiculous for a book that can be read in a few hours. It is particularly ironic that it is published by a publicly funded university, Edinburgh University (where I have lectured). Oxford is often worse, buying up magazines and then pricing them out of reach of most readers. These practices are destroying the publishing industry which will undoubtedly justify closing its doors with the claim that there was no demand for print books. Of course there's no demand at these prices. Shame on them.
