Not a gimmick.
I bought these just to try out. Thought it was a gimmick. It actually works pretty well. Haven't done a full blown trail but with what little stuff I put in the pan with in a day I had several flies (and other bugs) in it.

Works great with the right bait
Works like a champ with the right bait in it. The set of 4 I purchased did not come with bait, but you can make your own or buy some. It does not make all your Flys disappear but it does make a substantial amount of difference. Location of the traps is key as well, be prepared to move them until you find the right spots.

Didn’t work for me
I had such hope for these. They really seemed to work in the reviews. I’ve had 3 up for 2 months and have caught only 2 spiders. Now I have guilt for murdering spiders AND flies all up in my patio. Would not recommend. I’m giving it an extra star because I’ve repurposed them to rehome butterfly chrysalises hung in high traffic areas.

Squirrels will chew it up
This is a great trap! It literally traps thousands of flies. However, I have a squirrel who keeps chewing up the mesh on the trap in attempts to get to the cat food bait that I use. The squirrel has ruined 6 fly traps. I put my trap into a cage and the squirrel got it's head/claws through the holes in the cage and still chewed into my trap. Now I have put cardboard around the bottom of the trap and put it back into the cage. So far it has kept the squirrel away for 2 days now.

Rusted out in four months
The media could not be loaded. Below is my first review, my update review is that 4 months it rusted out where you could no longer hang it. The metal being used must not be rust inhibiting. I did give it 2 stars because it is a great idea and the bugs, flies still went in.———————————————————-Does not come with instructions (-1 star)so just find a video and watch how the funnel hooks to the top, then the bowl just sits in the bottom ring on the outside which I thought was kind of funny.I put about 2 tablespoons of raw hamburger in but didn’t get any flies for the first two days till I added some water then the video shows all the flies collected in the next three days. This is going to be tough to clean (-1star)because it doesn’t come with a door you can just dump it in the garbage. You will actually have to carefully dump the bowl then drop the hanging funnel and wash the flies out through the small hole.

Catches deer flies, black flies, and yellow jackets.
This product is effective for catching flies and hornets. It is a bit difficult to add bait, but worth the effort. I use chicken livers. I imagine most any moist meat would work.

Works great around a 25 x 18 pad.
So mine are placed in a triangle shape along my light strings and as long as you put the right attractant in the bowl, that mesh will fill with those buggers stopping them from flying around while youre sitting enjoying your backyard.Just don't put something that's really stinky in the bowl although it will attract the insects, you'll end up with a bad smell. I put dried bones in it and that does the trick.Check it after rain and empty if not under a cover or roof edge. Excellent for day time while the zapper works during the night. Well worth the money. Get at least 2 for best results

Don't Work
Swarms of flies all over the sides of the house and never caught one fly. And yes it was baited with stinky bait. Not one fly caught. It is more of a hassle to send them back than what I paid for them.
