The listed skeleton to excavate for this kit is a Parasaurolophus ( duck-billed dinosaur) but what we received was a horned Ceratosaurus dinosaur. My daughter was even more delighted that she had a meat-eating therapod! This was an enjoyable kit. It comes with plastic hammer, chisel and brush plus safety glasses. This is a messy activity so we placed the excavation brick in a disposable aluminum pan and dug outside. If you moisten the plaster block with water, it does make it easier to dig into.The finished Ceratosaurus was 12 inches long and 5 inches tall with a jaw that opens and closes. My 8 year old needed a little help with the assembly but it looked nice when it was done. Overall, happy with the quality of the product and that my daughter had fun with this kit.

I allowed my son, who is a bit young for the kit, to use it, and he had quite a good time. The product itself seems quality, and though I had concerns about it being somewhat of a 10-15 minute project, we are still not done digging out all the bones!The plastic bones are encased in a plaster of paris like 'rock'. Though the 'rock' is soft, it's still hard enough the blooming archaeologist can really go to town with the enclosed tools (hammer, chisel, saw, brush).We have not yet gotten to the assembly, but the quality of the tools, as well as the time needed far exceeded my expectations. I would recommend following the age on the box, however, with parental involvement, my 2 year old is having a blast with it.I would recommend laying down a hand towel or tea towel underneath to help collect dust, but everything should clean up with soap and water fairly easily.

I purchased this for my grandson who is homeschooled. It took a bit of work for him to get all the pieces and was a bit confusion when it came to putting the dinosaur togather so it does need a little adult intevention at times. Overall fun activity that is worth the time and effort.

The pictured dinosaur is not what you receive. The seller provided a full refund, but if you are ordering this because you want a parasaurolophus, do nor order this. I ordered it twice and both times received a cpdifferent, carnivorous dinosaur... Not what my daughter wanted.

My 5 year old son absolutely loved this. He dove right in with no assistance, although we did work together on assembling the bones after he unearthed them. Probably best to do it outside, but overall we were so pleased with this toy.

Perfect for our 5yo sons birthday party! Ages 2-12 worked in small groups, taking turns. It didn’t fall apart quickly, they actually had to work at it but work too hard! Once they found all of their pieces they couldn’t wait to get it put together! Highly recommend!

Provides a quiet time project for youngsters. Can be a little messy with sand chipping off but provided my grandson with the anticipation of uncovering the dinosaur. He really enjoyed showing us the finished project.

My son is 7 and loves science. He has a hard time sitting and focusing on one thing at a time. This kit held his attention and provided a fun learning opportunity. We spent great quality time together with this. Love this kit!
