Great headlight. Useful and fun for kids and adults alike.
The media could not be loaded. People might not realize just how useful a headlight can be. Getting to see and be seen in the dark while still keeping your hands free is a godsend. This particular one also happens to be fun, for kids and kids at heart. The headlight is shaped like a T-Rex head and who doesn't love T-Rexes? Even better, it roars and its eyes light up red when the headlight is on. The device is turned on and off by clicking the jaw closed and it comes in three modes. Press it once and the headlight turns into a constant beam, while the T-Rex roars three times and then stays silent (best useful mode for exploration and generally staying visible). Turn off and on again and the light will flash and stay on until the same three roars are heard, at which point it turns off on its own. Turn it on one more time and it will flash and roar continuously until turned off (best use as an alarm, and it's, for instance, a good idea to tell kids to use this mode if they get lost). The box comes with the headlight and a screwdriver to open/close the batteries cap. Included batteries are already set inside, with a plastic tab sticking out to prevent the circuit from closing and the headlight accidentally turning on on its own. This tab can, of course, be easily removed with a pull, and unlike other tabs for other electronic devices it can also be easily put back in place, which is a neat safety feature. One thing to keep in mind is that the jaw button is a bit sensitive, and pressing it too hard might not do anything. If pressed lightly it'll work properly every time. I think it's a very nice product and I recommend it.

Fun tool for young adventurers
The media could not be loaded. This a fun headlamp designed primarily for kids who like dinosaurs and adventure. The LED lamp is housed inside a rather large plastic T. rex head. You turn it on by squeezing the open jaws together slightly. The moderately bright light comes on, the eyes light up red, and the dinosaur makes several loud roaring sounds (see attached video). Another squeeze of the jaws and the light turns off.The adjusable headstrap is decorated with stylized reptilian footprints, in a color scheme that suggests lizard scales. There's a strap down the middle that rides on top of the wearer's head, in addition to the band that goes around your head, to support the weight of the dinosaur and its electronics.I like that the unit comes with AAA batteries installed. Just pull out the plastic strip that keeps the unit shut off in its package, and it's ready to go. The original batteries probably won't last long, so plan to replace them, preferably with NiMH rechargeables, if you or your young explorers will be using the headlamp much. This lamp is intended to be a functional novelty, something between a toy and a tool. It doesnt have the brightest light or the most durable housing, among available headlamps, and I'd advise against testing its ability to resist water, especially submersion. The roaring noise could be annoying if someone is trying to use the lamp in a dark room or tent when others are trying to sleep. I do wish that there was some way to turn off the sound. The sound effects may be useful, though, for parents keeping tabs on their young explorer's nighttime activities. The colorful stripes and loud roar are fanciful embellishments that will likely appeal to young explorers, but I doubt that anyone would defend them as accurate or realistic. Neither of those features are preserved in the fossil record that we have for dinosaurs, so we probably can't say they are inaccurate, either. The thing is intended to fun. Just go with it.Let me know if anything in my review was helpful.

Button for no sounds, please!
From the pictures in the listing, I thought I'd be getting a snake headlamp. Not a dinosaur. It looked more like a snake to me. The way this headlamp clicks to turn on... I'm obsessed with the clicking sounds. I had to click it a few times in order for the lights to turn on or change. There were times when it just wouldn't turn on no matter how many clicks I did, but I hope that that's normal. The light shines so brightly for a small headlamp though. That was surprising. There's a screwdriver for when opening up the battery compartment to change out the batteries. The head strap can be adjusted and doesn't fall off easily. The color even matches the dinosaur headlamp, so it blends well together. It tends to get a little warm on the forehead from the light, so I be careful with it.I did not like the sound coming from the headlamp at all. When the light is flashing, the sound continues to play. When it doesn't flash, the sound comes on 3 times and stops. I won't be using the flashing light since it's so annoying. I wish there was a button to turn off the sounds. This would've made me like the headlamp a little more. The sound was more like an elephant, but if you listen carefully and closely, it starts to sound like a dinosaur.
