Creating Textured Landscapes with Pen, Ink and Watercolor

I frequently refer to this book to practice new or refresh old skills and techniques for painting landscapes. Well-illustrated, easy to follow step by step instructions. A real gem, buy it!

This book is well written and has really helped me with my watercolor landscapes.

As with all Claudia’s books I have, they are very clear, concise, expert instructions and jany creative different, useful ideas.

It is a good art book, but not my favorite. I own three others and some tips are repeated in the other books.

Step by step instructions, including paint colors, brush sizes, hints, detailed drawings - I have a few books that I also really like, but I think this is the BEST one I have used. Really good for novice who has no idea how to paint and add texture to anything that is in a landscape - rocks, water, foliage in distance - this book will be well used by me.

Claudia Nice's Creating Textured Landscapes with Pen and Ink and Watercolor is well organized and lush enough to be a coffee table book. She begins with some basics of what tools and equipment you need, then jumps right to show you how to use them. The rest of the book covers clouds and skies, mountains, hills, trees and foliage, rocks, still and flowing water, flowers, and what she calls the "human touch" - buildings, roads, bridges and the like. The two- and three-step illustrations with detailed notes about when and how to use ink and/or watercolor were particularly instructive. I'd already bought her Creating Textures in Pen and Ink with Watercolor and was equally impressed with it. The two are wonderfully complementary, and even if I never achieve her level of detail, she has taught me through her books a different way of seeing and capturing the natural world I enjoy.

Loved this book. I find it very helpful for my drawing and painting. It shows you how to make your drawing/painting more realistic. I love doing landscapes, and painting them in watercolor. The book goes into detail on how to make trees, bark, moss etc look real. I've struggled with rocks, and this book has shown me step by step how to make them look like real rocks, not blobs of color! If you like realistic painting as I do, buy this book!

Apesar do título ser específico para paisagem, é um livro completo: totalmente didático e cheio de técnicas a respeito de materiais e texturas que podem ser aplicados para simular inúmeras superfícies com os mais diversos propósitos. Ademais, é ricamente ilustrado com o belíssimo trabalho da Cladia Nice - o que por si só já é um grande mérito!

Claudia Nice shares her amazing techniques. Excellent for beginner students too. I really recommend this book for anyone interested in developing step by step watercolor skills.
