Dino Egg Hunt for my daughter's Three-Rex party!
My 2 daughter absolutely loves dinosaurs so I thought a Dinosaur excavation would be the perfect activity for her birthday party. When the package arrived, the Dinosaur Egg box was already opened and the eggs were scattered about the Amazon box (Not a deal-breaker). The eggs came nicely packaged in a box that displayed the eggs, there were 12 individually wrapped eggs, 12 Dino description cards, a brochure pamphlet that listed all 12 of the dinosaurs and 10 tools for doing the excavation which is a bummer bc two kids are going to have to share their tools since we are short two. The tools fell outside of the Dino egg box when it was shipped but I tore everything apart and could not find them anywhere so they were definitely missing/short on two of the tools I was hoping the tools just fell inside of the box but they weren't there. The party isn't for two more weeks so I won't be able to report back on how the eggs actually worked until after the party but as far as looks, they look great. The only downside for me was that they didn't come with enough tools.Pro's:-Displayed in a cool dinosaur egg box that nicely displayed the eggs-Came with 12 eggs which looked very realistic and they're enclosed in a plastic packaging to prevent the dirt/dust from getting everywhere until they're unwrapped.-Came with 12 very nice detailed dinosaur description cards which are supposed to match the dinosaurs since each one is unique.-Came with 10 of 12 excavation tools which sadly is not enough.-Came with one brochure pamphlet that lists all 12 dinosaurs-I think these will be awesome for my daughter's party! The plan is to bury these in our yard with dinosaur skeletons and then have the kiddos excavate them! I will update my review once we do it!Cons:Not enough excavation toolsUpdate After the dinosaur egg dig: I hid the dinosaur eggs in our garden box along with dinosaur skeletons, they were a major hit with the kiddos, even some of the older kids! Once they excavated them, I soaked the eggs as they recommended to make the process easier for the kiddos to chisel/excavate. The eggs are made of a mud like clay which is EXTREMELY messy. I had prepared myself for the mess and had a table prepped outside for the task with a disposable table cloth on it so it wasn't too big of a deal. The biggest issue was that the kids got clay material on their hands while excavating the eggs, including my daughter and she promptly smearing the material onto her nice clothing because she doesn't like getting her hands dirty and it didn't come out even after washing it in the washing machine so my recommendation would to be make sure your kiddos aren't wearing anything that you care too much about. One of my girlfriends even had her son take his shirt off! I had water, wipes and paper towels present but they were still messy. The dinosaurs that are found in the eggs are extremely cheap and tacky so I feel that some of the kids were disappointed after all their efforts but for me, it was all about the experience so I did not care what was inside the eggs. Someone had mentioned that some of their eggs did not have a dinosaur in them, I did not experience that issue. All of the eggs had a small dinosaur in them!

So much fun!
I used this set in a 1st-2nd grade class as the "grand finale" of our dinosaur unit. Of course I hid the eggs first and the kids loved searching for them! After a group photo, they then went to work excavating the dinosaur. I did not soak the eggs as the directions suggested because I wanted it to last a little while, and the students had no problems. It took 5 minutes or so for them to see the first glimpse of their dinosaur and about 20 -25 minutes for everyone to get the dinosaur completely out of the egg. Even as the children finished, they were still engaged - excitedly watching and helping others or continuing to dig at their own egg hoping to find a twin! :) We then had a "show and tell" with the cards which matched each dinosaur. They were so excited throughout the whole process. They LOVED this activity!!! You will definitely want to use some sort of drop cloth to make clean-up easier.

Lots of Fun!
My nieces, 7 and 5 years old, loved this. They’re in a dinosaur phase and had lots of fun digging out the dinosaurs and matching them with the cards. One piece of advice: the kit makes lots of dust. Doing the digging outside on a deck or picnic table would be a good idea, if possible. We put down newspaper at the kitchen table but still had a good bit of dusting and sweeping to clean up.

Not a good product
1. The egg is very hard for small kids to dig through. Purchased for 4 & 2 yr old boys. The 2 yr old just wanted the prize. The digging was too difficult and tedious.2. The 4 yr old was bored with the digging part 5 mins into it.3. The directions say to soak in water to make digging easier but the material is very messy and clay like so it was more like mud on their hands and clothes.4. The dinos inside are too small for kids under 5 and are a choking hazard.Do not buy unless you like mud and child is older than 5.

So much fun for my toddlers
I’m a big fan of surprise toys, so I purchased this for my kids. They were having so much fun! There are totally 12 eggs, each was nicely packed. My kids never spend more than 20 minutes on any toy, but they spent more than 1 hour on these eggs! My daughter just loves these cute tiny dinosaurs. Yes it will be messy, but who doesn’t like playing with mud! Definitely worth every penny!

Fun and Educational
My kids loved opening these dinosaur surprise eggs! Not only was it fun for them to open, they also learned a lot about dinosaurs from the fact cards. The kids enjoyed chiseling away at the eggs to reveal a surprise dinosaur inside. This is a good toy for kids of all ages. It’s a great activity for an aspiring paleontologist.

Winner! Great gift.
My kids fell in love with these excavation kits at their neighbors house and were super excited when I bought them their own. I think all little boys would love this to be honest.

VERY messy but fun
These really are great, my 2 boys had a great time digging out their little dinosaurs. Just be warned that it is VERY messy! And it's a tiny dinosaur i side 99.9% clay (or whatever the material is they dug through). But honestly, my boys had so much fun and they did it outside so the mess wasn't a big deal for me!
