Enchanting Fairies: How To Paint Charming Fairies and Flowers Paperback – July 30, 2007

This book is really more about how to paint in watercolor and gives great techniques on how to do so. I haven't taken any classes in watercolor and think this book is just the thing to teach me how. The fairies are cute and charming, so if you're looking for that type of fairies to learn to draw, this is the book. If you want a more alluring or sexy fairie, then you'll need a different book. This book also gives you excellent techniques on how to paint and draw flowers, leaves and wings. I would have given this book 5 stars if it gave more instruction on the drawing of fairies. It gives you a full frontal and a 3/4 side view of baby, child and adult fairies, but it doesn't give you techniques on drawing movement or flying. If someone is a novice they really won't be able to learn how to draw fairies in flight from this book. All-in-all it has a lot of lovely vibrant water color paintings and techniques, so I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn how to watercolor, or who is interested in cute fairies.

I am a self taught oil painter and craft artist who was raised on Fairy stories. When I saw this book advertised I hoped it would help me and it has. I like her Fairies, not to baby type of cute.She has great pictures with detailed instructions of how to achieve her art work using two different media. The way the book is written, her instruction is also adaptable to any media or type of work you want to do. A friend was having trouble painting a nice drape of fabric on one of her projects. I showed her my Enchanting Fairies book and it showed her exactly what to do. This is a good investment.

Great book for how to watercolor fairies!!

My daughter loves to draw and she really took off after reading through this book. She took different pictures and made her own versions of them and then began making up her own compositions. It was a great idea starter for a child who loves fantasy art.

I first purchased this book for my school teacher daughter and her two grandaughters (8 and 10). After purusing it, I purchased one for me. (I'm an artist, but fairies weren't in my purview.) It is a unique book, by a skilled artist/writer with a vision of another reality.

Some what old fashion! Some pics are ok. Probably will never use. Disappointed.

I bought this book hoping to find more ideas for painting fairies, but was a little disappointed because it is the same things as in the book on drawing fairies. It is a good book, but nothing different.

Have never done a painting with fairies and this book offers some history of fairies plus very paintable pictures.

I don't know what is going on with Amazon, but this is not the original book - but a printed e-book, on poor quality paper. As in, not a book in a traditional sense that you can buy from a book shop. The cover is flimsy and appears to be nothing more than photo paper. The printed images sometimes look grainy (not great considering this is an art book). Written on the back page are the words: "Printed by Amazon.co.uk".I have other 'Impact' art books, all very good quality, with glossy pages, proper covers etc. ACTUAL PROPER BOOKS.I emailed Amazon and they are not interested at all in my comments. A shame, because this is a charming and well written book by Barbara Lanza on painting fairies. There are fairies for all seasons and all occasions, and of different ages. The only thing is that there are only female fairies.There's the usual introduction on tools and materials, followed by a colour chart and a short introduction on colour harmony. Throughout the book, there are guidelines and little projects to follow (very detailed step-by-step painting instructions for each fairy, some over several pages). At the same time the author encourages you to follow your own path and discover your own style when you are ready. I received the book this morning so may write a more detailed review when I've attempted some of the projects.If only I could find an original copy of this book, I would return this poorly printed copy from Amazon.Considering this is a poorly printed version, it is not worth the current RRP of £16.99.

Quite a good book, inspirational, lovely ideas. Describes all aspects of painting each fairy project.I found it very refreshing.
