Works with Samsung G9 58 inch
I wanted to get 7,680 x 2,160 on my Samsung G9 and my laptop (Intel Iris XE) only has USBC so I used this with the Samsung supplied DP cable and it worked perfect! I also tried a competitors DP to USBC cable and it didn’t work at all.

Great adapter, for usb-c/thunderbolt3 DP-alt mode with G-Sync
Worked perfectly on my Asus Zephyrus S17 laptop, to connect a G-Sync 1440p/144hz display (Asus PG278Q). Supported 1440p/144hz and G-Sync. Just plug and play. Surprisingly, this worked fine on my advertised Usb-c (non TB3) port as well... For those few wondering about G-Sync support on this... your Usb-c or thunderbolt ports must be directly linked to the nVidia GPU for this to work.

Works great for the Valve Index
I was worried at first that using a third party adaptor would give me problems with the Valve Index, but I have had no issues at all using this adaptor - it even manages to hold up when overclocking the Index to 144Hz, which is great. The only downside is that the adaptor itself gets very hot when using the Index, but that's not really a problem.

Good for VR - Rift-S/Cosmos - if your laptop has USB3.2rev2/USB-C/DP1.4 support!
Works with HTC VIVE COSMOS and OCULUS RIFT-S with both laptops I’ve tried - ASUS Zeph G15 / GTX1660ti and a 3XS / RTX2070mQ - also works with 2m CLUB3D DP1.4 extension with these laptops and HMDs. Gets very hot - whether connected to DP or not. Slightly scary but temperature is stable and constant. The Startech plastic equivalents I have run cold even at 4K/120fps. They’re much bigger - I guess that’s why this one is made of metal - it’s its own heatsink...

Works well with ASUS S17 G701 with HP Reverb G2 VR headset
I purchased this to be able to use an HP Reverb G2 VR headset with an ASUS ROG S17 G701. This machine has one of its USB C ports able to be used in alternate mode for use as a DisplayPort (left side item 7 as identified in the ASUS manual) . In my case, I connected the Reverb G2 USB C connector to item 6. I have used this setup for flying simulations and VR video and all works perfectly.

Bought for Rift S - Didn't work
I bought this adapter specifically for a Rift S as i don't have a Display port on my Asus Dash F15 laptop. Unfortunately didn't work. I have tested the Rift on my PC and can confirm it works via DP. I have also used a Quest 2 via the Thunderbolt port on my laptop, which also works. I had high hopes for this Thunderbolt adapter, especially as it mentions the Rift. But no joy, still nothing displaying on the HMD and Oculus software does not detect the HMD either
