Pool Pond Spa Water Leveler PVC Auto Fill 3/8" Float Valve

I bought this to replace one that was damaged. This is a vast improvement over the last one which only allowed a small trickle of water into the pool. It hardly kept up with evaporation. This one allows alot more water to pass through and topped off our water level in no time after the kids were in the pool splashing all the water out. Seems to be built well and is very easy to install.

I installed this a few months back when my pool's auto-filler finally rusted out, I wanted to replace the broken unit with something that would hold up better to the chlorine. It's held up great, works exactly as you'd expect.

My pond would have to be filled every couple of days, in the summer, to keep the pump under water. I found this product and decided to try it. From the pictures you can see I tried different things but found I needed to get the hose within an inch of the desired water level for best results. I drilled a hole through the pound wall. Put the hose through the hole. Put a clamp on the hose and screwed the float into the hose and tightened the clamp. It works great. I now have a worry free pond.

This seems to be a nice float valve. Since I installed it only this morning I can’t address the durability but installation was easy. Because this comes without any backing nut or gaskets it was a bit puzzling trying to make the transition but with a quick trip to the hardware store and a helpful person there I was soon on my way. What I needed was a 1/2 inch X 3/8 inch reducing coupling and since I was attaching it to a 1/2 inch vinyl line I needed a 1/2 X 1/2 inch barbed elbow. Some 1/2 inch gaskets, a rubber grommet for a spacer and a tube of silicone sealer finished my shopping list.

I purchased this valve based upon reviews and because it’s not a brass valve. All the valves I previously bought were brass and only lasted a couple of years before they started to corrode and allowed water to pass when the pool was full. It was an easy installation and is working great. The best part is it was about half the cost of my old valve. After using this valve for about three weeks, I’ve changed my rating to one star because the valve stated leaking. It initially was rock solid but I then noticed it was allowing about 1 GPH to pass. I would not recommend buying this valve.

The label on the float was worn and faded like it was used and returned for some reason. Figured I would try it so took a chance and installed it. Seems to be working but will watch it and if it's not working correctly, I will return it B4 the 30-day return is up. Will update then.
