This book appears to have been written from vendor sales literature and aimed at high school level readers. Even three letter acronyms are misidentified. I sent my copy back.

This is an excellent book that is just full of information. I wanted to read this book to have a better understanding on planning for process industries. I have read a few of the author’s other books and really like his style. He takes complicated information and synthesizes it so that even someone outside the industry can understand. The graphs, pictures and charts throughout the book are immensely helpful. If you are a little apprehensive about diving into this subject, don’t be. This book really simplifies the concepts. Prior to reading this book, I was pretty confused on the different terminology between different types of manufacturing. The author really helped clarify my misunderstandings.The information on choosing the right software for various process industry environments was extremely helpful to me, as was the content on timing in the process industry fascinating. The author points out things that I would just not have thought of. I will keep this book on my bookshelf so that I can consult it often.

Each chapter thoroughly explains the perfect recipe for management, process control, manufacturing execution scheduling and several others which are rich in detail and explained with ease. It’s fast-paced, but the author takes his time to deliver information which is crucial for success and guaranteed to be beneficial in the long run.

Excellent primer and resource for process manufacturing. The content and illustrations are particularly helpful in explaining this industry and respective software requirements to newcomers.
