Incredible books, disappointed in the condition they arrived in though.
I purchased these as a gift to myself, and the first box I ordered never arrived. I received a refund and later repurchased the boxed set, which did arrive but had been obviously mishandled in shipping and one of the books ended up with a crushed corner after puncturing through the outer case. Keeping because it took so incredibly long to arrive at all, but I’m pretty disappointed in its overall condition. As far as the content inside of the books though - V.E. Schwab has very quickly become my favorite author. Her storytelling is compelling, her characters are both likable and infuriating, the magic in this series is beautiful, and the world is fantastic. I have to keep reminding myself that I have other books in my TBR pile and can’t immediately go and reread Shades of Magic 13 times. I can’t recommend these books to enough people

GREAT story! Fantasy reader must have
Wow what to say! This was an incredible story! Such imagination with the different Londons. The characters were so interesting and I loved the twists and turns at every corner!

Worth every penny
I read these books and then purchased this set. Amazing books and this hardcover set is even better. There's fan art of characters within each book. Book 1 and 2 came with built in string bookmark. Also comes with a map of all the London's!! I'm mad fan-girling out over here, join the fun! I bought for 45 but have previously seen pricing closer to 90. What a steal!!!

Great series, get it.
Just an absolutely fun and fantastic series. From start to finish, you can't go wrong here.Unrelated: Netflix has a series coming out [today, actually] called Shadow & Bone. I haven't seen it, but I did read the first 2 books and started the 3rd one. The 1st starts out strong enough in world building/etc, the 2nd one struggled to take the story laid out and run with it (it mostly is rather unfun), and the 3rd is a struggle to even read, a true chore of endurance to complete a page. To anyone that might be introduced to Shadow & Bone and think to themself, "It's neat, but it's missing something, it's falling short..." - THIS Shade Of Magic collection is the masterpiece that you are wanting. The books released at very nearly the same time, but I must strongly insist that this series trumps the other. I can think of no short comings to be found here. Get it, enjoy it, love it.

GORGEOUS
These books are *beautiful*! There's fan art at the front and back of each book, and they're all different. The books themselves are a good weight, the paper feels really nice in your hands, and the printing is lovely. I also like that they have ribbons built in for bookmarks. The hardcover itself, under the dust jacket, has really beautiful metallic inlay with relevant words or terms from the books on them. The last book says anoshe, and that is beautiful. There's also the map, of course, which is cool because it also has some location art. Cannot recommend these enough, especially at the price. I originally bought the UK paperbacks (used), but I loved the reads so much, I knew I had to get these. Can't wait to read the shorts in them!

Beautiful, but came in damaged… [Edited]
The books came in a box with no padding which made me anxious for possible damage to the books. Unfortunately, I found some which I’m not sure if it was caused during transit. The dust jackets were crinkled on top and the naked hardback as well. The “A” in the first book is flaking off. There was also a bumped corner in the third book.I’m usually really picky with special edition books since they are really expensive. I’ll see if I can get a replacement, but I hesitate since I’m worried the same thing might happen.Edit: I have received a replacement and it’s in perfect condition.

GORGEOUS edition
I love this set so much, I get tons of compliments on my pics of it. The original artwork is just so iconic and gorgeous, and putting it to a black background instead of white made it even more striking.VE Schwab really knew what she was doing making black, white, and red her books' palettes.
