It Just Works
It took me a while to get this installed, but only due to the layout of my computer case, and the length of the cables. Two cables have a 90 degree turn on one end, which did not work for my needs. The good part though, was that I took the SSD I had on USB 3 and plugged into this via a hot swap drive bay and it came right up and my virtuals on it ran with no issues at all. No driver install in the latest Windows 10 Pro build, and no real problems that were due to the card itself. Works perfectly as extra SATA ports on a computer. For the price, this is easily 5 stars for being exactly what it is sold as.

Very easy install, and great speeds!
I have 3 HDDs and 3 SSDs, my motherboard only came with 4 SATA connections so I ordered a card for 2 extra slots similar to this one. Then I upgraded from a 1050ti to a 1080 and the card wouldn't fit in the bottom PCIE slot with the SATA cables plugged in. The reason this was an issue is my card for 2 extra SATA connections (top card) would be under the 1080, blocking one fan if the GPU was in the top slot. This card was very easy to install. Now my GPU has proper airflow AND I can get 2 more SSDs! Haven't had any issues with speeds, works perfectly! I'll update this review in the future to see how it holds up! :)

SATA controller that can run in AHCI or IDE MODE
UPDATE January 2, 2023We are using 8 of these in the household, 7 on Linux based computers. On the Windows computer that uses this, it started working intermittently a couple of months ago. In the process it caused my Themes service to not work on a reboot and it also interfered with my onboard USB 3.0 ports (I could charge devices but not interact with them). I took the controller out yesterday with the 2 drives I was using and the problems went away. Windows reboots with Themes and interaction with USB 3.0 devices is working again. No issues with Linux so for now I can't say it's an issue with Windows, only that 1 of 8 controllers has failed.UPDATE: October 17, 2020If you have a Windows based machine, it's possible that your hard drives show up as removable in the System Tray under the USB and can be ejected. If you want to prevent this from happening, in Device Manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, find the Asmedia 106x SATA Controller (there will be a total of 2 of them). In each one highlight them one at a time, and select Properties. Under the Policies tab uncheck the "Enable safely remove disk" It bothered me that I could accidentally eject an internal drive that I was using as part of my Operating System. This was not in the installation manual (which was lacking, but is listed in this listing).ORIGINAL REVIEW: July 4, 2020Sometimes SATA Solid State Drives and Hard Disk Drives don't play well together. When this happens, I found it best to separate them by using two SATA controllers. This controller when in AHCI mode shows up as an ASM 1062 SATA Controller or in IDE mode as an ASM 1061 SATA IDE controller. IDE MODE is the legacy IDE mode for SATA devices.Often times the PCI-e x1 slot is right next to the PCI-e x16 slot occupied by the Graphics card. Even single slot graphics sometimes have heat sinks that protrude just beyond it's slot and to avoid a possible short I placed a rubber bumper (purchased here on Amazon) on the back side of the SATA controller card so that the underside of the card can never short out on the heat sink of the graphics card.I bought one, then 5 more of these for all the Linux PC's in the house that now mix SSD and HDD technology w/o any issues or freezing. Some of the machines dual boot into Windows where I have seen the bulk of the freezing but not since I separated the Solid State Drives from the Hard Disk Drives.

Works great
I bought this to bring new life into a system with a dead SATA controller and it worked fine: it was a bootable device, saw everything I threw at it, and just worked. It did have an issue running on an even older board where it would see a device but couldn't boot from it. That isn't a fault of the controller card itself and more of a fault with the motherboard: if the BIOS isn't new enough (so...15+ years) to allow bootable PCIe devices, this card and competing options flat out will not allow you to boot directly into whatever storage device you have attached to them, it'll stay defaulted to the onboard SATA controllers. My advice? It's good a fit for P45/AM2+ chipsets and newer.

Easy to install, it just worked
Item is a PCI-e card that adds four SATA hard drive ports to a motherboard. My motherboard only has two SATA ports and this is a low-cost solution to increasing that number so I can use more than two drives. Product comes with PCI-e card, low profile bracket, four SATA cables, and small DVD with drivers. The card slides into the PCI-e slot on the motherboard, which most users never use, so this is a good use of that expansion slot. After the drivers are installed, it recognizes all installed hard drives. My highest praise for computer hardware is "it just works", and this fits the bill.

Wish this would have worked with my system
Packaged nice including 4 SATA 3 cables, screwdriver and screws if you want to switch to the narrower mount. Install went well. Installed drivers and then had to switch the boot order and it booted up fine. Did some performance testing and found the speeds to be considerably slower than the original motherboard. I shutdown and rebooted and the storage drive was not found. I tried a different port with the same result. Switched back to the original motherboard and all was well. This seemed to be a nice setup. The reviews show that it works well for some and not so well for others. I was able to return to Amazon. Thanks Amazon for your service.
