High-Security Mechanical Locks: An Encyclopedic Reference

This book will not show you how to pick a lock, but I am sure the lock picking experts either own or have read this book.

This is a very technical book on the construction of most locks in the world!! It is not a how to book on lock picking! This book is so technical you will need an engineering degree to understand much of it!!!!

I'm not a locksmith by trade, but I have always had a fascination with locks and keys and know the basics of the craft. I happened upon this book and bought it impulsively. Upon receiving the book, I was at first disappointed at the small size (dimensions) and the thin-type pages. I almost decided to just box it back up and return (due to the cost of the book), but as I started to look through it, I found it hard to put down. The more I read, the more interested I got. There are some really unique locks and keys that were and are manufactured. I would love to have a set of these locks (padlocks would be cool) and keys. Anyway, I am definitely keeping the book as I am going through it again and will do so from time to time. I'll get my cost out of the book for sure!

It's a must have for anyone interested in locks.It has given me a boost of information helpful for my YouTube channel and simply my own knowledge.

This book is an absolute must-have for anyone interested in or who works with mechanical locks. The content is well-organized and goes into substantial technical depth while remaining accessible to any reader with a basic familiarity with locks.The "encyclopedic reference" subtitle is very much appropriate. The content is comprehensive and the author carefully-defines a taxonomy of locking mechanisms such that, at least for me, every lock I've looked up was either covered directly or was clearly within one of the defined categories and thus better-understood.If you're researching picking or bypass techniques, you will find that this book does not go into much specific detail.... but it absolutely provides a necessary understanding of the respective mechanisms. I see it as a perfect complement to texts discussing specific techniques.A+

If you are interested in locks at all, this is the book for you. Very informative. Fun to read.

Excellent book for the lock collector or locksmith.

This book is a very comprehensive reference of mechanical locks and a fascinating read. It doesn't deal with the aspects of defeating locks directly but does give a good basis to understand their attributes and failing. A really excellent book and highly recommended.

This is a very nerdy book...It's written by an engineer and he describes the various locks strictly to his fellow engineers, but for this kind of book that's the right way to do it.The selection of locks covered is very good; there's everything you've heard of and quite a lot of obscura.If you collect locks or are in the industry, this is a book you should have on the shelf.

The best book about locks I've ever seen (and I've read lots of them).A must have for anyone interested in locks, contains TONS of information you can hardy find in the Internet.Very well written.It's not cheap, but you will never regret about this purchase.

Das Englisch ist gut verständlich. Die Seiten vielleicht ein wenig dünn geraten. Die Quervermerke zu den Patenten sind nützlich. Die Übersetzungen der Fachausdrücke sinnvoll.
