Seeking the Beloved...is one of the best spiritual books I have ever read. The author, Wayne Simsic, writes with great simplicity and clarity, not an easy feat when one reads and studies some of the works of St. John of the Cross. I was not disappointed when I used this book during my annual prayer retreat. Its content game me a lot to reflect and pray about. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced in journeying with St. John of the Cross, you will want to own this book. It will help to deepen your spirituality and contemplative soul.

Perhaps you've tried to read St. John of the Cross before and abandoned the effort. It's not easy by any means. I chose this particular book because I wanted to become more acquainted with the works of St. John of the Cross. I chose Wayne Simsic's book because this would be a good introduction before attemptiong to read John's work in the original I was not disappointed. The author leads the reader gently through John's beautiful poems by exoplaining meanings and encouraging reflection as to one's own spiritual life and growth. Anyone with a deep desire to know and love God more intensely will be led into that state through this work.

I love this book. I have tried reading a lot of material on this saint and found it all very deep, but this little book is how I fell in love with St. John of the Cross. You will not be sorry you brought it.

This is a book you can read in brief moments with the Lord. It would probably be an excellent bible study material and I liked the flow and easy correlation between St. John's thoughts and how I think about the same concepts.

Seeking the Beloved: a Prayer Journey with St.John of the Cross was for me,awsome. The author gave me a new perspective on contemplative prayer. I give the author five stars and more. I am on my second reading of this book. I found it to be a very lifegiving, spiritual experience.

Author makes St. John of the Cross readable, simplifying his mystical teachings for the average lay person wishing to understand his writings.

Comforting and inspiring. Will draw the Christian who is seeking a deeper understanding of the great love God the Father has for us by sending His only Son to give us entrance into His Heart.
